Prague Family Photo Shoot: Winter Days and Nights
Winter family photos in Prague, with the clouds clearing now and then
Hi, I’m author S.
Today I’d like to share some photos from a shoot in Prague the previous winter! It was February, but I remember it not being particularly cold that day. The sky was pretty typical for a European winter, though the clouds did clear now and then, giving some of the photos a different feel.

Winter Family Photo Shoot in Prague: Summary
On a February day that wasn’t particularly cold, the family shoot began in daylight and continued into the night.
Details
The shoot starts at Our Lady of Exile.
I like how easy it is to shoot there in winter. It takes a while to walk up, but in the morning or evening, I can count on getting shots without distractions in the background. And I can get absolutely adorable photos like this one 😀

This is the path in front of Strahov Monastery (Strahovský klášter).. I used to have people do all sorts of things here, from lifting someone up to walking and twirling.. These days, that feels a bit tacky to me, so I keep things as simple as possible, like this.

They chose the photos themselves, and every one was a photo they could enjoy for years to come.
I’ll probably still be taking photos 20 or 30 years from now. I tend to focus on photos that will stand the test of time, with the hope that we can work together then too.

At Schwarzenberg Palace (Schwarzenberský palác).. well, I always shoot the same way, but the family photos seem to turn out differently every time.

Perhaps because it’s winter and the off-season, the Third Courtyard of Prague Castle (Třetí nádvoří Pražského hradu) is fairly quiet.

From autumn 2022 onward, the Royal Garden (Královská zahrada), which used to close in winter, began opening all year round. So I was able to take photos there in winter too.

Cihelná is always peaceful. When there’s a baby in the group, I usually go to the part of Cihelná by the water. Otherwise, I often come to this side.

Here’s a photo from the night shoot. This spot made a brief appearance in the older film Ode to My Father. So they took home a shot here too 😀

Making a heart in front of Shakespeare 😀

With St. Vitus Cathedral (Katedrála sv. Víta), a Prague landmark 😀

I took several versions of the tram light trail shot, and this seems to have been their favorite!

The shoot ended at Týn Church (Chrám Matky Boží před Týnem) in Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí).
It was a pleasure photographing you. Wishing you good health and all the best for your family!
Thank you 😀
Booking Information
I’ll post a separate announcement if I offer photo shoots in Prague again.
If I were to offer photo shoots in Prague, a 1-hour daytime shoot would cost about 250,000 KRW. A 3-hour day and night shoot, with 2 hours in daylight and 1 hour at night, would cost around 400,000 KRW. For a 3-hour shoot, I would provide 30 edited photos and 450 originals. I’m currently not offering photo shoots or accepting bookings in Prague, and I’ll post a separate announcement if that changes.
- I remember it not being particularly cold on that February day when I took these family photos. The sky was typical of a European winter, with the clouds clearing now and then.
- The morning or evening is good for getting shots without distractions in the background. It does take a while to walk up, though.
- When there’s a baby in the group, I usually go to the open area on the right, by the water at Cihelná. Otherwise, I generally go to the open area on the left.
- It’s Míšeňská Street (Míšeňská). It appeared briefly in the film, so this family had a photo taken there at night too.
- I took several versions. The photo featured in this post seems to have been their favorite.
