Okinawa Weather on June 23rd

Today’s weather in Okinawa was truly intense. I had several teams scheduled for Okinawa snap photography, so I was shooting under the blazing sun all day. I can confidently say I know today’s conditions better than anyone. Having travelled through the north, central, and southern regions, I can provide a comprehensive weather update for the entire area.

The Route from Miebashi to the North

This is how the morning looked today. Although there was a forecast for rain, we didn’t see a drop, and it turned out to be a very sunny day. Yesterday, I had a tiring drive because I kept waking up in the early hours when the fan turned off. However, today I slept well, so driving all day wasn’t difficult at all.

It’s the morning commute. I’m on my way to get my car. Ah… I wish I had a private garage in Okinawa. It’s quite tiring having to park in a different spot every day. Just looking at yesterday’s festival, it seems there are too many cars in Okinawa.

Today, I’m heading north because I have a shoot at Nago Beach. Although using the highway could save me 30 minutes, I decided to leave a bit earlier. Personally, I don’t recommend first-time visitors to Okinawa to use the highway.
It’s like skipping a game; if you’re going to skip the journey, why come on a trip at all? Using the highway on your first trip to Okinawa is just like that. Route 58 has many beautiful spots and plenty to see. Enjoying this kind of experience is what makes you feel like you’re truly travelling in Okinawa 😀

I’ve already had an energy drink, but as I head north and make a quick stop at the restroom, I treat myself to a glass of zero cola. It’s a bit warm.

Weather in Okinawa from the North

Nago Beach looks like this. Today, I’ll be doing a snap shoot here in Okinawa. It’s almost as if we have the place to ourselves. Although there are a total of eight people, it’s a relief that we can shoot comfortably without any distractions.

Today’s photo shoot concept is simple. It’s about capturing a family playing on the beach.
Nago Beach is a decent spot for adults to enjoy swimming, but it’s not recommended as there are no lifeguards. I kept reminding everyone not to go more than a metre into the water during the shoot. The seabed here is a bit stepped, you see? If a child plays in the water and goes just a little further, it suddenly gets deep and can be dangerous.
Also, today there was an incident with a Korean company operating snorkelling trips to Minnajima. Someone suffered a cardiac arrest, and the situation was so serious that an emergency helicopter was dispatched. Let’s always prioritise safety when enjoying water activities.

Originally, we planned to shoot for two hours at Nago Beach, but we finished in just one hour. The baby got tired and couldn’t continue, but for a two-year-old to play for an hour in this heat shows remarkable stamina. Despite the presence of the sea, seeing them so lively for an hour suggests they might not have many minor illnesses in the future.

For a snap photographer, the most important thing is stamina, followed by stamina, and once again, stamina.
When I train photographers, I don’t place much importance on sense or intuition. Those can be learned through experience and feedback. Stamina and perseverance, however, aren’t something I can instil in someone. With the stamina I’ve honed over time, I worked hard on today’s snap shoot and completed it successfully.

Nago Beach doesn’t have any special facilities, so there’s no foot bath to wash off the sand. We just brushed off the sand and got into the car to head south.

Chubu American Village

It seems I’ve skipped quite a bit in the middle. Suddenly, it’s gone from morning to late afternoon. I had to change vehicles, grab a bite to eat, and take a short break, so the photos ended up being a bit sporadic. Anyway, despite it being a Monday afternoon, there were quite a lot of people at the American Village.

This is the view of Depot Island. The sky here is incredibly sunny, blue, and beautiful.

However, on the opposite side, dark clouds are looming. It looks like it might rain at any moment, but… it didn’t.

There’s a little time left before the shoot starts, so I enjoy a refreshing glass of water. Evian is having an event where they give out pouches.

There was a couple on Depot Island that looked quite stylish, so I captured them in a photo.
It seems they have no intention of fixing the streetlights here. They’re always out of order… By the way, these streetlights are similar to those in Prague, Czech Republic, although they’re a bit smaller. For your information, if these streetlights were LED, the light wouldn’t be as pretty. They absolutely must be gas lamps.

For a weekday afternoon, quite a lot of people have gathered at Sunset Beach. By the way, I’m not particularly fond of these kinds of photos. I have to mosaic all the faces one by one.

This is the view of the sea in front of American Village. It was quite beautiful in the late afternoon. However, it was still undeniably hot.

I’m not usually one for ice cream, but it was so hot that I decided to have one. This is part of my plan to write a post about having tried all the Blue Seal ice creams. I never upload anything I haven’t experienced myself. I’ve been running this blog for 11 years, and that’s my philosophy. If I don’t know something, I admit it. If I get something wrong and feel embarrassed, I simply say, “I didn’t know. Thank you for letting me know.” It’s okay not to know everything.

With about 30 minutes left before the shoot, I took a short break at the Aeon Mall. It was quite hot outside, but inside the Aeon Mall, it was not just cool but slightly chilly.

Feeling a bit guilty about enjoying the air conditioning for free, I bought an energy drink. Even if I drink it, it just turns into sweat immediately. I’ve had two cans and several cups of coffee today, but I’m so tired that I don’t even know what I’m writing right now. The caffeine doesn’t seem to be having any effect.

This is Depot Island at sunset. The sunset is so stunning today, it’s a bit of a trap. When the sunset is this beautiful, there are more people, which means less space for me to take photos.

After finishing all the shoots, I’m heading back home. I’m so tired that I barely know how I’m writing this. I have another snap shoot in the north tomorrow, so I’m going to rest early. I’ll wrap it up here and come back tomorrow with more updates on Okinawa’s weather. Matayasai 👋
