Weather in Okinawa on July 20th
🌥️ Haisai! I’m CULT.
Today in Okinawa, the weather was a mix of clear skies, clouds, and occasional drizzle. However, it wasn’t a day that stopped us from sightseeing. It rained lightly for about 10 minutes, then stopped, and this pattern repeated 4-5 times, with a break of about an hour in between. The temperature ranged from a high of 31°C to a low of 27°C, and it felt slightly cooler compared to yesterday.
Dawn at Miebashi

This is the scene at 2 a.m. in Miebashi.
I had quite a bit of work to do, so I stayed up all night. I finished my work around 8 in the morning and then went to sleep. By the way, in the early hours of Saturday, Naha… there are still cars moving around and people heading somewhere… there are indeed some. Also, it seemed like there were quite a few customers at the karaoke.

Normally, I would have bought a drink and taken it home, but since I’ve been working at home continuously, I just sat anywhere outside and had my drink. It seemed like it had rained just before I came out. And certainly, as it was early morning, it was pleasantly cool. Although there was some humidity, it wasn’t uncomfortable.

This is the view at 5:20 in the morning. While working, I went to the bathroom and noticed the sunrise outside the window, so I captured a shot. I had a feeling it would be a nice day, but it turned out to be a day with intermittent drizzle.
Weather Photos from Southern Okinawa

Today, I came to the south to return the rental car.
While walking, I stumbled upon a curry shop that looked delicious, so I decided to stop by and make a post about it. It was quite tasty for the price. In July, I’m mostly tied up with editing Okinawa snaps. I also need to work on program development and conduct security audits. Therefore, more substantial content will likely be posted from early August. Unlike Naver, this blog doesn’t have a rule of one content per day. If I have a lot to share, I can post 6 to 7 pieces in a single day.

Returning the car and taking the bus back home.
I usually get a lot of discounts when using Okinawa car rental services, but since it’s Sunday, everyone is busy. They couldn’t drop me off, so I came out to Ishibana to catch the bus. I need to post about this… I’m glad there’s so much to do. At least I don’t have to worry about running out of content for a while. However, the tourist content is already showing signs of running out. Okinawa is… small, you see… 😥

It’s naturally a summer day, and today the sun isn’t particularly scorching. It’s purely the humidity that makes it a hot day, and despite this, a light drizzle continues to fall.

I got on the bus, and suddenly it rained heavily for about 5 minutes. After that, I don’t think I saw any more rain.

To get home, I need to get off the bus and transfer to the monorail. Public transport in Japan is quite expensive, so it costs me over 600 yen just to get home. This is why I need to buy a car… Buying one isn’t the issue, but I’m struggling to find a parking space. I keep asking about parking at my apartment, but since no one is moving out, I’m just waiting.

I’m on the monorail heading towards Kokusai Street. The southern Okinawa sky is beautiful. It feels somewhat calm.

It’s still a bit hot, so I have a cup of barley tea. But is this really barley tea? While on the monorail, I searched online and confirmed it is indeed barley tea. It seems more appropriate to write barley tea as 麦茶 in kanji rather than hiragana. I learned a few kanji words like this on the monorail.

Inside the monorail, there were many tourists travelling today, even though it’s a Sunday. The monorail is the quickest and most convenient way to enter Okinawa city.
Afternoon in Miebashi

Here are some photos of the Okinawa weather near Miebashi Station in the afternoon.
Looking at the green river below, the water level is quite high, which means there won’t be heavy rain in the next few days. As I always say, I determine whether there will be heavy rain in the coming days by observing the water level of the Miebashi River.

Due to the Japanese House of Councillors election today, there are no more election campaigns. So, what are the key points of this election? The issue of rice prices… Let me show you rice priced at 1,980 yen. Why was there so much confusion over rice?

As the afternoon remains quite warm, I finish off with a refreshing zenzai. It feels like I’ve been having zenzai every day lately. Here are some recommendations for places that serve excellent zenzai that I’ve come across so far.

After a nap, this is the scene at Miebashi around half past five in the afternoon. It seems there are a lot of vehicles heading into Naha, perhaps because it’s Sunday evening. Many people have to go to work tomorrow, and there are also those who need to return their rental cars and head back to their hometowns.
Okinawa Weather Forecast

In this screenshot, you can see a yellow mass in the lower left corner, which is a tropical depression cloud cluster with the potential to develop into the 7th typhoon. However, on the right side, there’s nothing, right? That’s the North Pacific high-pressure area. This North Pacific high is pushing the low pressure on the left towards the west and is gradually weakening. Of course, the possibility of it developing into a typhoon remains high, but the probability has slightly decreased compared to yesterday. [AccuWeather]

And there’s more rain expected next week due to the influence of a typhoon. However, because the tropical depression I mentioned earlier has slightly weakened, the overall expected rainfall between the 26th and 29th has decreased by about 50%. Initially, it was forecasted to be around 15-20mm, but now it’s been updated to about 8-12mm. Of course, this could change.
You might have heard the term “heat dome” in Korean news, right? When the yellow cloud clusters on the radar meet a heat dome, there’s a very high chance of it developing into a typhoon. That’s why each weather forecast site predicts a different path. It’s still uncertain whether it will head north and hit the Korean Peninsula or continue to be pressured by the North Pacific high and move towards mainland China.
Well… by tomorrow, we might have a bit more detailed information than today.
That’s all for today. I’ll wrap it up here and return tomorrow with more Okinawa weather updates. Matayasai 👋
