Okinawa Weather on August 1st
🌤️ Haisai! I’m CULT.
Today, the weather in Okinawa was incredibly hot. The sunlight was so intense that it was scorching, and it was extremely humid, making it a challenging day for filming. Perhaps that’s why I’m feeling quite exhausted now, and to be honest, I’m not entirely sure what I’m writing at the moment. Please bear with me as I’m writing in a stream of consciousness.
Anyway, today the highest temperature was 32 degrees Celsius, the lowest was 27 degrees, the wind was mild, and the sun was strong. There are large rain clouds forming in the southeast of Okinawa, but it’s uncertain what will happen, so it seems the hot weather in Okinawa will continue for a while.
Okinawa Weather Video
Today, I stitched together a few clips I took while wandering around Naha into a video.
Miebashi Area

This is a scene from late this morning. The weather was very nice from the start of the day. With few clouds and a clear sky, the sunshine was quite intense even in the morning.

Lately, I’ve been a bit behind on editing Okinawa snaps, so I’ve been editing and working continuously before heading out for a shoot in the afternoon. Today, I need to take the monorail because I have a shoot at Okinogu. Anyway, the weather itself was absolutely splendid.

Looking at it this way, it really does feel like a day in Japan. It’s still hot.
The Heat in Okinawa Continues

I’ve arrived at Onoyama Park. Here, you’ll find the Ryukyu Hachisha Okinogu Shrine. I come here quite comfortably now, without any fuss. It’s a rather beautiful shrine for kimono photography.

There are quite a few people running in this heat. Of course, when I was running a lot, I didn’t pay much attention to the temperature either.

This is Okinogu. It feels a bit different from usual.

This is the view of Naha city from Okinogu. Even while taking this photo, sweat is pouring down like rain.

Quite a stunning and splendid torii, isn’t it? I often visit here for kimono photoshoots. Today, however, it wasn’t about kimonos; it was a family photoshoot with a regular tourist concept.
Back to the Kokusai Street Area

We moved our shooting location to visit the Kokusai Street area. While shooting at Okinogu, we roamed around the city and moved to Kokusai Street, using a car to get there. This is the underground parking lot of the JAL Hotel. Today, I learned something new about this system.

This is the scene on Kokusai Street after all the filming was completed. Perhaps because it was a weekend afternoon, there were a lot of people. While filming, it was a bit challenging to frame the shots due to the crowd. Personally, I always believe in using people as part of the scenery rather than avoiding them, so the idea of not being able to shoot because of too many people doesn’t apply to me. After all, a bustling crowd gives more of a touristy feel, doesn’t it? By the way, even though the sun was setting on the horizon, the Okinawa heat remained relentless.

On my way home, I discovered a new shop. I usually cycle around, so I haven’t noticed such detailed and intricate places. I’ll make sure to review them one by one when I have some time soon.

Today, I wrap up the day with Okinawa zenzai after returning home. The weather was extremely hot today, and I’m quite exhausted, so I’ll keep this short and head to bed early. I have a shoot scheduled for tomorrow morning. It’s expected to be very hot again tomorrow.
I’ll leave it here for now and will be back with more Okinawa weather updates tomorrow. Matayasai 👋
