Weather in Okinawa on August 10th
☀️ Haisai! I’m CULT.
Today, the weather in Okinawa was extremely hot. It was the perfect day for enjoying water activities, with the sun shining brightly and a breeze blowing, so it wasn’t unbearably hot despite the temperature and sunshine. Visitors from Korea mentioned that it’s much hotter there. This is almost the hottest time in Okinawa. The temperature reached a high of 32°C and a low of 27°C. Typhoon No. 11, Bavi, is moving further away from the main island of Okinawa, so not only is there less rain, but it seems like there might not be any rain at all.
Okinawa Weather Video for 10th August
Here is today’s Okinawa weather video. Today includes Toyosaki. Initially, it was expected to rain a lot this week, so I took photos of a large shopping mall that’s great to visit with children… but since it didn’t rain, they turned out to be unnecessary. I’ll share them with you slowly later on.
Miebashi Area

This is the scene from this morning. Someone left a cute fan here. This is near where I live, and there are many karaoke places and famous eateries around. Originally, there aren’t many good restaurants on Kokusai Street; the real gems are in Miebashi or Kumeji. That’s why this area gets crowded at night with people looking for authentic dining experiences.

This morning, the sky is blue again. I came across a blue car while passing by, so I decided to take a photo with it. In Okinawa, it seems that vehicles in shades of blue are particularly common.

I need to go for a shoot, but the inside of the car is extremely hot. If you open the front and back doors and open and close one side a few times, the hot air will escape to some extent.
Southern Okinawa

This is the Southern Beach outdoor swimming pool. I’ve been doing a lot of shoots at resorts lately, but this is my first time at Southern Beach. The pool here seems more suitable for playing with young children rather than for adults. If you want to swim, it might be better to go to Itoman Bibi Beach in front.

It’s low tide now, so the sandy beach looks incredibly beautiful. We successfully completed a family photo shoot with this backdrop. By the way, it was quite hot. In such heat, children can quickly get tired, so it’s important to manage shade and beach shooting time well.

After finishing the shoot, I captured the entire Itoman Bibi Beach. There seem to be more people at the hotel pool than on the beach. It’s low tide, so the water is quite shallow.

On the way back after the shoot… As soon as I opened the car door, an intense heat poured out. I quickly opened and closed the door a few times and then turned on the air conditioning. Fortunately, the heat doesn’t last long. This is a rental car, and you can rent one too. It’s easy 😀
International Street Area

Every Sunday from noon to 6 PM, vehicle access is restricted on Kokusai Street. This allows people to walk freely on the road. Bicycles are also not permitted. Ideally, you would take commemorative photos in the middle of the road, but the sunlight is so intense that it’s difficult to stay there for long.

This is the Shisa, a landmark of Kokusai Street.
Whenever I do a snap shoot on Kokusai Street in Okinawa, I always make sure to include this Shisa.

Today, the weather was extremely hot, so I headed home while enjoying some zenzai. It’s so hot that even eating quickly doesn’t give me a headache. Usually, when I eat at home, I get a headache with every bite, but it seems the heat is preventing that.

This morning, they said a typhoon was heading towards the main island of Okinawa, but by the afternoon, it had moved away again. So, we drained all the water and then refilled the Miebashi River. The constantly changing typhoon paths these days are causing a lot of trouble for the Miebashi River.

This is the scene on Kokusai Street in the evening. There were quite a lot of people. Sundays are usually when tourists leave, but perhaps because it’s the summer holiday season, there seems to be less of a decrease in numbers. Originally, I intended to show how people were dressed, but since it’s so hot, there’s really no need to discuss attire. Just make sure to dress comfortably and coolly.
Okinawa West Coast

Naminoue Shrine still had tourists in the evening. They seemed to be from Taiwan.

This is the view of the west coast. I was hoping for a dramatic sunset like yesterday, but today’s Okinawa sunset was quite subdued. This photo captures the climax. There was no more intensity, and it simply turned into night.

This is what it looks like after the magic hour. I came here with high hopes because the sunsets have been beautiful lately, but it’s a bit disappointing.

It’s almost 8 PM, yet there are still people enjoying a swim at Naminoue Beach. Please be aware that if an accident occurs after the lifeguard service has ended, insurance will not cover it. Make sure to swim only where lifeguards are present.

Today, I did a bit of a food tour. I discovered a ramen place that’s incredibly delicious. It’s as good as Danbo Ramen but not very well-known. I have a lot of Okinawa snap work to finish today and tomorrow, so once that’s done, I’ll upload it to Naver.
It might take a few days here as I need to fix the translation plugin. I’m not satisfied with the translation quality, so I’m going to overhaul it completely.
Typhoon No. 11 Bualu and Weather Forecast

Due to the North Pacific High, Typhoon No. 11, Bavi, is moving far away from the main island of Okinawa. Although the forecast yesterday predicted indirect effects with rain on the main island, the evening forecast on August 10th indicated that the typhoon has moved so far away that it might not even rain. Of course, we should keep monitoring the situation. While the main island won’t be affected by the typhoon, Ishigaki Island and Miyakojima Island are still expected to receive a lot of rain.

The peak of the typhoon is on August 13th, but the main island has seen the news of rain completely disappear. Miyakojima and Ishigaki Island were expected to experience very intense rain, but the forecast has changed to simply a lot of rain falling quietly. It’s unpredictable how things will change.
That’s it for the Okinawa weather report on August 10th! I’ll wrap it up here and come back tomorrow with more Okinawa weather updates. Matayasai 👋
