August 21st Okinawa Weather
☀️ Haisai! It’s CULT.
Starting the Okinawa weather report for 21st August 2025. The 12th typhoon, which was supposed to come, disappeared just before reaching Okinawa, passed by, and then became a typhoon again. At this point, it feels like the typhoon is deliberately avoiding me. Come to think of it, I haven’t experienced a typhoon in the past 12 years. Where I live, there’s always been severe drought.
Anyway, today was a typical hot summer day with a high of 32°C and a low of 26°C, but it’s significant that the lowest temperature dropped to 26°C. Now, it definitely doesn’t feel unbearably hot at night anymore. From September, the temperature will gradually decrease, so it’s turning into a slightly less hot summer.
Okinawa Weather Video for 21st August 2025
Here’s today’s weather video. Although I couldn’t capture much today due to circumstances, I managed to take a few shots here and there. Even though the temperature has dropped by about 1 degree on average, it’s still very much summer.
The Sights of Naha, Okinawa

Today, I have to go back and forth to the airport, so I’m on the move. The sky is beautiful and lovely today as well. Well… most of the weather has been like this since the summer began. When I lived in Prague, the sky was always like this in the summer, but in contrast, it was very cloudy in the winter. However, in Okinawa, it’s nice because you can easily see blue skies even in winter. Of course, Okinawa also has many cloudy days in winter.

Today, I was at the airport to help with the car rental business. Once the modifications to the DB program related to vehicle specifications are complete, I plan to continue posting reviews of Okinawa car rentals. Training AI is quite cumbersome and requires a lot of effort.

After finishing the car rental work, I pass through International Street. Perhaps because it’s a Thursday afternoon, there are quite a few tourists around. Today is the day when a giant cruise ship arrives, so at least 1,000 to 3,000 tourists are dropped off in this area.

This is the view of the Miebashi River in the late afternoon. Since there is no rain forecast for a while, we need to manage the water resources well. As it’s still low tide, the water is drained during the day and refilled in the evening. Come to think of it, it’s still humid, but it feels less intense than usual.
Honestly, I don’t really find the Okinawan heat that hot. As for the cold in Okinawa, you could say it practically doesn’t exist. Whenever I talk to Okinawans about the climate, they always say the same thing. They think Okinawans might just be a bit delicate.
As for me… I’ve managed to film just fine in 45-degree weather in Barcelona, and I’ve photographed brides in low-cut dresses in minus 19-degree weather in Prague. So, perhaps that’s why I feel that Okinawa has a very easy climate to live in.

32 degrees, though that’s just my perspective… It’s not particularly hot today, so I’m taking the opportunity to explore the nooks and crannies of the alleyways. It’s near Kokusai Street, but there are no advertising signs, and there are the typical Okinawan wax? typhoon-proof tiled houses. I spent a moment pondering how I could use these in my photography.

While walking down the street, I spotted my favourite Y’s Cafe and snapped a photo while waiting for the light. This café is really great, a recommended hotspot in Naha!

This is the way to Naminoue Shrine. I saw a woman using a parasol and wearing arm covers while moving along. Of course, sunscreen is essential on days like this. No matter how good a parasol is, sunlight reflected from buildings or the ground can still be harmful to your skin, so make sure to apply it. Among the sunscreens I’ve purchased in Okinawa, I find the lotion type sold at Muji to be the best. It does run a bit if you sweat a lot, but it’s easy to apply. I tend to reapply sunscreen every 2-3 hours.

This is near the second torii of Naminoue Shrine. There used to be stairs and a large stone torii here, but it has been dismantled and some construction work is underway. It seems like they are planning to build a new torii with the steel structure. It feels like construction progresses quite quickly in Okinawa. When I lived in Prague, they never kept to the schedule whenever there was construction work.

Today, there were quite a few tourists at Naminoue Shrine. There seemed to be some kind of event happening inside, and people were queuing up, possibly for some sort of ceremony. There were even tents set up for shade, which aren’t usually there.

And coming over to the opposite side, here is the view of Naminoue Beach. Although it’s slightly cut off in the photo, there were actually a lot of people swimming just below the frame. The reason it’s below the frame is because it’s still low tide, so the water is shallow. That’s why people are moving towards the deeper side to swim.

You’ve docked at the West Coast Cruise Terminal. When such large cruises are in, you can definitely see a lot of tourists in Naha city. There are schedules departing from Taiwan and also from Busan. If you’re someone who wants to enjoy a very leisurely trip, do check it out!

I’ve visited Tomari Port. There are some dark clouds over there, but it didn’t actually rain. It seems like it could rain once, but perhaps it’s just a passing cloud. [Google Map]

In the evening, I went out for an Okinawa snap schedule. Today was a sunset shoot, and judging by the results, it was a success. I’m now quite accustomed to capturing sunsets around the Miebashi area, so it’s going smoothly without much difficulty.

You’re someone who enjoys fishing, aren’t you? The Miebashi River subtly reveals a lot of fish. Also, it’s quite common and easy to spot people fishing in Okinawa. It seems like anyone can do it comfortably. When I lived in Prague, there were so many things to do like environmental education and getting a license just to fish, which was quite frustrating, so I ended up not doing it.

Today’s shoot was very successful. I’m gradually adapting to life in Okinawa. Everything is going so smoothly, and all my plans are progressing well. The snap schedule for September and October in Okinawa is a bit tight, so I need to handle things quickly to avoid being overwhelmed like I was in Prague. After the sunset, it feels a bit cooler.
That concludes today’s Okinawa weather report for 21st August 2025. I’ll be back with more Okinawa weather updates tomorrow. Matayasai 👋
