Weather in Okinawa on August 22nd
🌤️ Haisai! This is CULT.
Starting the Okinawa weather report for 22nd August 2025.
To summarise today’s weather in Okinawa, there was a bit of rain in the morning. After that, it turned into a clear and sunny day, making it quite a good day for travelling. The temperature reached a high of 31°C and a low of 27°C, and it seems like it’s rare for it to go up to 33°C now. It feels like the peak of the heat has passed. There’s no news of typhoons or rain, so it looks like this weather will continue until early September.
Okinawa Weather Video for 22nd August 2025
Today’s Okinawa weather video features many shots taken at the airport. I spent the whole day dealing with airport-related tasks, so I was back and forth quite a bit. It should be easy for you to see what people were actually wearing and get a feel for the atmosphere in Okinawa today. This situation is expected to continue for a while.

This morning’s view of Miebashi. It was drizzling a bit, just enough to need an umbrella. Although it rained briefly in the morning, it remained clear afterwards. I was worried that the rain might disrupt today’s work, but there was no need for concern.

This is the scene at Miebashi Station around 11 a.m. on a Friday. Perhaps because it’s a Friday, there are quite a few people travelling from Okinawa to other places. In fact, the fastest way to reach Kokusai Street using public transport is the monorail. It’s quicker than a car. Today, I had to go back and forth to the airport, and although I could have used a car, I kept using the monorail.
The method for using the monorail has recently been updated to support credit cards, so I will upload the instructions on Cultravel soon. Below is a Naver blog, and it only supports Korean.

I mention the name Miebashi every day, and Miebashi refers to the very heart of Naha. The very centre of Kokusai Street is Makishi Market, and the closest areas are Makishi and Miebashi, with Makishi being about 50 metres closer… However, Miebashi has far more great eateries. So, for me, the centre of Okinawa is Naha, and the centre of Naha is Miebashi! That’s the formula that works.
Naha Airport Area

This is the area around Naha Airport. There are people finishing their Okinawa trip and heading back, and others who clearly look like Okinawa locals, as well as those setting off on their travels to somewhere else. It’s quite diverse. The passage from the monorail to the airport is outdoors, but it didn’t feel extremely hot. The breeze, though gentle, was constant, making it pleasantly cool.

I’ve made my way up to the 4th floor of Naha Airport in Okinawa just to write about the best places to eat here. There are about 20 restaurants, and having tried two today, I’ve already completed 10% of my mission. Reviewing every single one is my ambition 😈

After finishing work at Naha Airport, I’m on my way to pick up the vehicle in the city. We have 10 guests arriving from Miyakojima today, so we need two Alphard vehicles. Initially, I didn’t know how many guests were coming, so I only brought one Alphard. Upon hearing there were 10 guests, I hurriedly went to get another vehicle.

This is the view just before Tsubogawa Station. Somewhere over there is Okinogu Shrine. If it’s your first time travelling to Japan and you were disappointed with Okinawa, it might be worth a visit. Okinogu Shrine probably has the strongest Japanese feel in Okinawa.
International Street

I heard that some restaurants around Kokusai Street have closed and some new ones have opened, so I decided to wander into the back alleys to get a sense of what’s happening. Along the way, I encountered an adorable cat with the vibe of a middle-aged, laid-back uncle. The different colour under its mouth looks a bit like a human moustache…

This cat turned its back and showed its bottom when I pointed the camera at it. I thought about posting that, but decided to replace it with a regular photo instead. Anyway, around this time, the Okinawa sky becomes quite overcast, so it didn’t feel particularly hot.

Recently, I’ve been analysing Okinawa snap photography, and it seems like single shoots are a bit lacking. No matter how nice natural, concept-free photos are, when a woman is shooting alone, you need to direct her a bit. So, I diligently search for such backgrounds. I save them if they have a vibe from the 80s or 90s.

I’m on my way home after finishing all my work. This is the afternoon view of Kokusai Street, and perhaps because it’s Friday, there are quite a few tourists around. Although the holiday season is really over now, there doesn’t seem to be any sign of the number of tourists decreasing. It’s always good to take note of what people are wearing. Well… given the weather, wearing cool summer clothes is pretty much a necessity anyway.

We had dinner quite early, around five in the afternoon. It was at Sanukiya. It’s one of the restaurants I visit most frequently on Kokusai Street in Okinawa. The prices are reasonable, and above all, the food comes out quickly. It’s probably the number one favourite restaurant among Korean men, I think? I conduct various surveys myself, and I’ve never met a man who didn’t like it here. This is the delicious Inarizushi for 200 yen.

I also had zaru soba, and the soba noodles were wonderfully cold, perfect for summer. It’s my favourite dish at this place and one I would recommend. If you’re looking for a quick and simple meal, I suggest you give it a try.

Late afternoon water level measurement at Miebashi River. Although it rained in the morning, it’s still low tide, so water is released during the day and replenished at night. AccuWeather indicates continuous rain, but it does actually rain. However, it’s very light, so there’s no need to worry, and Japan Weather News shows sunny weather every day.
Anyway, there won’t be any heavy rain for a while, and the typhoon that formed west of the Philippines continues to move westward. The tropical depression clouds east of the Philippines are uncertain in their path, so there’s no forecast for heavy rain in Okinawa for the time being.
Of course, if anything changes, I’ll let you know here again.
That concludes the Okinawa weather report for 22nd August 2025. See you again with more Okinawa weather news tomorrow, Matayasai 👋
