Weather in Okinawa on August 28th
🌦️ Haisai! It’s CULT.
Starting the Okinawa weather report for 28th August 2025.
Today, I spent almost the entire day in the northern part of Okinawa, at Bisezaki, so most of the photos and videos are from Bisezaki. As expected, it was quite hot today, and notably, there were three brief showers, each lasting about 10 minutes, with rather heavy rain. However, since it’s rain under a blue sky and it stops quickly, there’s no need to worry at all. The temperature reached a high of 32°C and a low of 28°C.
Okinawa Weather Video for 28th August 2025
Today, the weather was incredibly beautiful, the rain looked magnificent, and the sunset was splendid. If a typhoon doesn’t occur this week or next, it will likely resemble what you’ll see with your own eyes.

This is the scene in Miebashi around 10:30 in the morning. Naha had a slightly cloudy feel in the morning, but there was a rather refreshing breeze. It was hot, but it didn’t feel stifling at all.

Even if there are sporadic showers… since no heavy rain is forecasted within the next 10 days, the Miebashi River has been filled with water. As I always say, when the water in this river recedes enough to see the bottom, it means heavy rain is expected within two days.

I stopped by the Kyoda Service Area in the northern Nago region.
Now that I’ve tried the last menu item at the Kyoda Service Area, I can write a special feature on it. I came here today specifically for that reason. Even though I’m busy, I could have just passed by. Anyway, with the dark clouds in sight, it’s clear there will be another sudden shower today.

After filming the last menu at Kyoda Rest Area, I’m heading back to the car park. It’s another incredibly beautiful day today. I haven’t even had a chance to see a typhoon… and there’s hardly been any rain… It doesn’t seem like the Okinawa I imagined at all. It’s just that the weather is nice every day.
Bise Fukugi and Bisezaki

I’ve arrived at Bise Fukugi, and it’s drizzling. Well… I’m not too bothered. It won’t rain when I’m filming anyway. I arrived about 30 minutes early, so I sat down for about 10 minutes to have a reservation consultation, then went out to take some weather photos. The drizzle lasted for about 10 minutes and then stopped.

Perhaps because it rained, the sand feels moist, making the photos turn out better. Usually, when taking photos of babies, the dry sand texture can be a bit of a concern. Still… no matter how soft that sand is, for babies, it’s sand that feels prickly on their feet.

Even though it looks clear, refreshing, and cool… it’s hot. Sweat trickles down. When going down steps, about six drops of sweat seem to bounce off my face at once. The sunlight was quite intense too. However, there were moments when clouds occasionally covered the sun, making it feel slightly less hot.

It’s currently the time of the new moon, so the tide is coming in at an awkward level. When filming in Prague, the moon didn’t really matter, but shooting in a location with the sea means I now have to calculate not only the position of the sun but also the phase of the moon.

Okinawa Snap Photography was underway when a brief shower passed by. It lasted about 10 minutes, but since we were all walking through a very tall, lush forest, we hardly got wet. Here’s a tip for you… When walking along Bise Fukugi Path, mosquito repellent is a must. There are many sneaky ones that come silently, suck your blood, and disappear.

After the shower, a very beautiful sky followed. It’s the time of the new moon, so the sea level at Bisezaki is gradually rising. It’s still shallow, making it a great time for fish watching or for little ones to enjoy snorkelling. It’s also quite a good time for photography.

All those people over there are here with their children to go snorkelling.

Why is Bisezaki snorkelling so famous? Well, the water is shallow, so children can snorkel, and the fish here aren’t very afraid of people. They seem to perceive humans as providers of snacks, like when you throw them a treat. So even when children snorkel and get close, the fish don’t swim away. The fish are also beautifully coloured.
I prefer filming here because it allows for ecological observation. What I mean is, I take a lot of still shots of children observing things that are fascinating and interesting to them, and there are plenty of such things at Bisezaki. Things like hermit crabs, coconut crabs, and three-coloured lizards.

In the back alleys of Bisezaki, there is a staff vending machine like this. Anyone can use it, but it’s tucked away in the back alleys. The prices are about 50% cheaper than other vending machines 👍

With filming wrapped up, I sat at Bise Point, basking in the scorching sun, and took a moment to watch the children playing in the water. The water seems even more refreshing because it’s free.

Now, we’re slowly making our way back to where we parked the car. The weather is absolutely fantastic.

I sat down to have a cup of iced coffee at the café. But as soon as I sat down, a sudden shower started pouring again. As expected, it lasted about 10 minutes and then stopped.

Perhaps because it rained earlier, the sky looks absolutely splendid.

And the sea on the opposite side feels just like a salt desert. If you remove the boat in the bottom right, many people might actually believe it if you said it was a salt desert.

The last photo is a sunset picture taken in Nago. Rather than a sunset, it’s the magic hour. Today’s sunset was purple, but I was having dinner at that time 😮💨
So, I captured the sky during the magic hour, after the sun had completely set beyond the horizon. You can often see skies like this. Also, there’s a delicious eel rice bowl restaurant nearby, so do give it a try. [Yukawa Seasonal Cuisine]
There’s a bit of rain forecast for next week. It doesn’t seem like it will rain much, though. Around Okinawa, there aren’t any significantly large rain clouds, just very small ones. It doesn’t seem like there’s much to worry about.
That concludes the Okinawa weather report for 28th August 2025. I’ll be back with more Okinawa weather updates tomorrow. Matayasai 👋
