Today, I did some research on what information travellers to Okinawa are looking for, and it seems many are searching for free parking on Kokusai Street. If there were free parking on the main street in Naha city, where real estate is the most expensive in Okinawa, I would have used it myself! Since there isn’t any, let’s explore the most affordable parking options on Kokusai Street today.
🏨 Near Collective Hotel
Near the Collective Hotel, which can be considered a landmark in Okinawa, parking fees are surprisingly affordable. There are many open spaces where you can park, with various parking lots charging 100 yen for 25 minutes or 30 minutes. However, just one block away, the prices can rise significantly, so please check the Google Maps link I provide to save on your travel expenses 💴

🌏 Kokusai Street Main Street
The main street of Kokusai Dori has quite expensive parking fees. However, there are some cheaper options, which I have attached. The photo on the left shows a parking area located in the alley to the left of Blue Seal Kokusai Dori branch. It is not a coin-operated parking lot but a manned one. Since the staff do not speak English, it is recommended for those who can speak Japanese.
🛍️ Near Makishi Public Market
The area near Makishi Public Market is where you’ll find the highest concentration of izakayas and senbero spots in Okinawa. It’s a popular area that attracts many people, which is why parking fees are the most expensive on Kokusai Street. Be cautious as some places charge an astounding 100 yen for just 10 minutes. Also, if you search for Makishi Public Market on Google Maps and drive there, it will direct you to the most expensive parking lot. I recommend marking the cheaper parking lots I mention and visiting those instead.
🏺 Near Tsuboya Pottery Street
Tsuboya Street is a place where people visit to purchase crafts, so the parking lots tend to be expensive. I recommend the International Street Parking located under the Choco House building, which is relatively the most affordable option.
🅿️ Other Affordable Parking Lots on Kokusai Street
I’ve explored the area around Kokusai Street quite thoroughly, but later I discovered some additional affordable parking spots nearby. There are many inexpensive parking lots near Miebashi Station, and they tend to be quite spacious. I’ve marked all the parking locations mentioned so far on the Google Maps link below. You can save it and refer to it when visiting Kokusai Street.
