Naminoue Beach, located in the heart of Naha, Okinawa, is the closest beach you can visit at the start of your journey. It’s conveniently located with plenty of nearby restaurants and interesting tourist spots to explore, making it well worth a visit.
As you travel along Route 58, one of the first places you’ll encounter is Tropical Beach. This global beach is enjoyed by people of various ethnicities due to the surrounding commercial facilities and nearby US military accommodations. It’s also a great spot to watch the sunset, making it an ideal recommendation for those seeking a convenient and nearby beach.
Ikei Beach, located in the eastern part of Okinawa, is a paid beach that I recommend for those who dislike crowds or wish to take photos with the sea as a backdrop. Due to its geographical structure, the area has weak waves and currents, making it safe, and the lifeguard-monitored area is small, allowing for safe water activities.
Let me introduce Araha Beach, a great place to visit with children. Located along Route 58, it’s an ideal spot to stop by during a rental car trip if the kids get bored. Of course, you can also enjoy swimming there.
The 21st Century Forest Beach is located near Nago City, which is well-equipped with commercial and accommodation facilities. While it’s beautiful in the summer, if you visit in the winter when the sun sets in the southwest, you can enjoy an even more stunning sunset.
I visited Shuri Castle by bicycle. It was a rather special experience, although you would need a good electric bike to make it possible. The restoration work is still ongoing, but I’ll keep you updated with the latest developments.
