July 14th Okinawa Weather

🌤️ Haisai! I’m CULT.
Today, I’ll be starting the Okinawa weather report.
As forecasted, there was a bit of rain early this morning. Although the forecast predicted about 2mm, it seemed like around 5mm fell. Of course, since it rained in the early hours, it wasn’t the kind of rain that would disrupt your travel plans. However, today was quite warm, and the rain from early morning added to the humidity, making it feel like a hot day. The temperature reached a high of 32°C and a low of 27°C.

Rainy Miebashi

It was around 6:30 in the morning. I woke up like a zombie again today and was working on some program modifications when I noticed something a bit hazy outside the window. Ah… it was raining quite a bit. I quickly grabbed my camera, and indeed, it was a short but fairly heavy rain. It stopped around 6:50.

Spent the morning tweaking and editing the program, then stepped out for lunch. I had some research to do, so I was cycling along Route 58 when, lucky me! I spotted an undercover patrol Crown police car.
These cars are used to catch signal violations or speeding. It was a photo I really needed for my Okinawa rental car information, and I managed to get it here. Anyway… nothing good comes from getting caught by the police. Please drive safely.

These days, I’ve been visiting Midoka. It’s a must-visit restaurant in Okinawa that I really want to introduce… Well, there’s a queue even from Monday, so I’m taking a quick weather photo while I wait. It was slightly overcast at the time, which was nice.

This is the Fukushuen Castle Wall. I pass by here almost every day lately, and I’ve been taking a lot of photos both inside and outside. Yesterday, I did a snap shoot here in Okinawa, and the photos turned out beautifully. It’s quite a nice spot for taking couple or family photos.
Wearing a kimono for a shoot might seem a bit out of place… but it actually suits the setting well.

Today, I visited Naminoue Shrine, which is one of my regular riding routes. The staff here are starting to recognise me, probably because I come here so often. By the way, I was lucky when taking photos. I managed to capture a shot with just these people in it, even though there were quite a few tourists beside and behind me.
Speaking of which, it’s Monday today, yet there are many tourists. Typically, Okinawa sees more tourists from Thursday to Sunday. Many visitors come from nearby countries, with the majority being from mainland Japan, followed by Koreans, then Taiwanese. Chinese tourists usually come in groups, so they aren’t as noticeable.

Visiting the West Coast for Okinawa Weather Photography

I’ve come to Naminoue Beach for a quick photo session. Here, there are no jellyfish prevention buoys, so please refrain from entering the water carelessly. Jellyfish can sneak up and sting your ankles without you noticing. Make sure to enjoy your time in the water within the safe buoyed areas.
And personal snorkelling? Please, don’t do it. If you don’t want to hear news about fatalities due to cardiac arrest, avoid it. [Related Article]

Today, I’ve come to an outdoor club to check out some new information. There’s an outdoor club on the west coast of Okinawa where the sea breeze blows, but it’s a bit tricky to access, so I wanted to check it out in advance. It looks like a place for a wild night out. I’m not a fan of noisy places, so I don’t usually like clubs, but I’ve come because there were requests for club recommendations.

This is the underpass beneath the Tomari Bridge. One thing’s for sure, this is the coolest spot in Okinawa. Although there’s a breeze today, when you come here, it feels three times stronger and incredibly refreshing. [Google Map]

Perhaps because it’s Monday, there aren’t many people at Naminoue Beach. Today was a perfect day to enjoy a swim. I’m busy preparing for tomorrow’s opening, so I headed home quickly.

This is an election poster I took to create content related to earthquakes in Okinawa.
Personally, I find it noisier when they start campaigning with microphones one by one than the earthquakes themselves. I think that’s more of a nuisance than the earthquakes. While Okinawa does experience earthquakes, they are very mild, and the natural disasters to be concerned about are typhoons and tsunamis. The preparations for tsunamis are excellent, but the real issue is typhoons.
Fortunately, the drainage and recovery systems for typhoons are extremely well-developed. The city of Naha has historically suffered from typhoon damage, so it was designed with typhoon preparedness in mind from the early stages of urban planning.

Today’s Tomari Port. Looking at the sea here reminded me that I have a snorkelling feature coming up this week. There’s a good company I know, so I’ll try it out and let you know. I’ve had three near-drowning experiences in my life, so I’m not particularly fond of water activities, but you simply can’t separate Okinawa from snorkelling.

This is tonight’s dinner. It’s a delicious bakery, but I haven’t uploaded it to Cultravel yet. I’m attaching a Naver blog post I wrote in the past.

After finishing my bread, I dozed off around half past five in the afternoon… When I woke up, it was half past ten in the evening. I decided to finish up today’s Okinawa weather post and headed out to the convenience store to buy a drink. The night was quite cool. It wasn’t extremely refreshing, but it wasn’t warm enough to make you sweat just by walking around. And even though it was Monday, there were a lot of people in the izakayas. It made me wonder if it’s still the holiday season.
That’s all for today’s Okinawa weather update. I’ll be back tomorrow with another fresh Okinawa weather report. Matayasai 👋
