Okinawa Weather July 10th
🌥️ Haisai! I’m CULT.
Today, the weather in Okinawa was generally overcast. Although there were patches of blue sky and a bit of sunshine, it was mostly cloudy. It rained late last night and there was a bit of rain until early this morning, but it didn’t rain afterwards. Around 1 PM, there were a few tiny raindrops, but after that, it alternated between cloudy and clear.

The above data was today’s Okinawa weather forecast. The chance of rain was 96%, and it did drizzle slightly, so it was accurate. It felt like much less rain than 5.5mm though. [AcccuWeather]
From Miebashi to Kokusai Street

This morning, this is the view towards Miebashi Station. At this time, the weather was quite clear. The blue sky and white clouds coexisted beautifully.

My Naver blog currently receives a significant amount of traffic from the keyword “Okinawa earthquake.” Okinawa is more associated with tsunamis than earthquakes, and even then, it is quite safe due to well-installed breakwaters. So, election campaign vehicles are actually noisier than earthquakes or tsunamis here.

A passing Westerner, I noticed you were dressed quite lightly. Today wasn’t extremely hot… with a high of 31°C and a low of 27°C, but you can definitely feel the difference between 33°C and 31°C. At 33°C, you start to sweat even when you’re just standing still.

In the afternoon, I step out of the house to capture some weather photos. I found this flyer in the mailbox. I haven’t reviewed eel rice bowls before, but I’ll make sure to use the coupon and let you know about it soon.

This is in front of Miebashi Monorail Station. Unlike the morning, it was quite cloudy in the afternoon. You can tell how overcast it was by the lack of shadows beneath people’s feet. Despite this, there is a lady using a parasol.

This is the entrance to the Makishi Market on Kokusai Street. Usually, the number of tourists increases from Thursday night, but as it’s still early afternoon, there aren’t many people around. Also, although there are only a few people wearing long clothes, they could be easily spotted.

This is the western end of Kokusai Street, with dark clouds on one side and blue skies on the other. It was roughly 30% dark clouds, 40% white clouds, and 30% blue sky.
Okinawa West Coast

I never knew such a place existed in Fukushuen. I take photos of the Okinawa weather almost daily while cycling around, exploring deep into the alleyways. If the weather had been a bit nicer, the photos might have turned out better, which is a bit of a shame. I’ll definitely come back on a good day.

And there’s a shrine I’ve never seen before. What could this shrine be dedicated to? As I wander around various back alleys all the time, I come across many things for the first time. Even those living in Okinawa might find this unfamiliar, don’t you think?

This is Naminoue Shrine. Looking behind the roof… it seems like it could rain at any moment. However, only a few drops fell, not enough to call it a meaningful rain. It wasn’t even enough to be considered a drizzle.

There seem to be more people on the Tezumiya side than at the shrine. I captured a moment with a group of women dressed in yukata.

This is Naminoue Beach.
Perhaps because the weather is cloudy today and it’s not particularly warm, there aren’t many people here. It seems to be about half as many as yesterday.

I headed to Tomari Port. This photo seems to best capture today’s weather.
On the left, there’s a blue sky with white clouds nearby, and on the right, there are dark clouds.

Today, after finishing the photo shoot of Okinawa’s weather, I returned home. Even from my house, the dark clouds over the west coast of Okinawa look quite black. However, as of 7:10 PM when I finished writing this, it hasn’t rained any further. If it does rain, I’ll make sure to note it in tomorrow’s Okinawa weather report.
Although I leave these Okinawa weather reports daily, it’s all part of a bigger plan to make it easier for those visiting next year.
I’ll wrap it up here for now and will be back with more Okinawa weather updates tomorrow. Matayasai 👋
