Okinawa Weather July 13th
☀️ Haisai! I’m CULT.
Today, the weather in Okinawa was extremely hot. It seemed that the rain in the early morning turned into humidity, making it a sweltering day. It was slightly overcast in the morning, so I expected today’s Okinawa snap photography session wouldn’t be too hot. However, as the afternoon came, the clouds began to clear, and the intense sunlight made me sweat continuously. In the evening, there was a slight drizzle. The temperature reached a high of 32°C and a low of 27°C.
Starting with the Weather in Okinawa at Miebashi

This is a view of Miebashi in the morning, and it was generally cloudy. This photo captures the clearest part, as I expected it to remain cloudy all day and only photographed the clear section. I don’t think I’ve mentioned this before, but I never take the same photo twice. I always capture just one shot in one take.
Anyway, I took this picture while I was out buying an energy drink to start my day on a positive note.

I’m heading to have a meal near Miebashi as I need more photos of Okinawa’s eateries and then off to do some Okinawa snap photography. It’s quite noisy these days, possibly due to the Japanese House of Councillors election. Campaigning is happening everywhere, and I find it noisier than earthquakes or tsunamis. By the way, since I’ve been living in Okinawa, there hasn’t been a single typhoon.

Every Sunday from noon to 6 PM, Kokusai Street becomes a pedestrian-only zone, creating an open and inviting atmosphere. This makes Sundays a great day for photography in Okinawa, as there are plenty of opportunities to explore and capture the vibrant surroundings.

There’s a bit of time before the shoot starts, so I have an energy drink to get going. As expected, energy drinks taste better in Europe. Also, I’ve heard Koreans say Pepsi Lime is delicious, but I personally find European Pepsi Zero to be tastier. In my opinion, Pepsi Lime is a notch below the European Pepsi Zero.

I’ve finished shooting around Kokusai Street and am now on the move. It’s somewhat cooler in the shade, but as soon as you step into the sunlight, the sweat comes automatically.

As I went towards the front of the prefectural office, they were handing out election promotional materials. I took one just to study kanji. Since these are kanji that are actually used, I make sure to study them in advance.
From Naminoue Shrine to Route 58

Today’s shoot ended at Naminoue Shrine. Since I couldn’t bring my bicycle, I’m walking back home. It takes about 30 minutes. Still, I enjoy people-watching and exploring new things. By the way, despite the construction near Naminoue Shrine, there were many tourists. And although I didn’t take any photos of the beach, there were so many people swimming today.

If you come to Okinawa now… that kind of outfit seems just perfect.
However, no matter how hot Okinawa is… from what I’ve heard from people arriving in Okinawa, Seoul and Busan are actually hotter.

While walking down the street… I came across an izakaya with a unique atmosphere, housed in a style of building commonly seen in Okinawa, so I made a note of it. Having visited most of the famous eateries in Okinawa, it’s time to discover these little hidden gems. Being a blogger is tiring. [Google Map]

This is near a high school close to Kumeji… It looks like a shrine. I didn’t know this was here, but today I learned something new again.

This is a bus stop on Route 58… Due to the angle of the sun, it’s completely shaded here. There’s a lady using a parasol under the shade, which means today’s sunlight was that intense.

This is the traffic on Route 58 as seen from the overpass. Since the revelation that the July 5th earthquake prediction was a hoax, tourists have been gradually returning. It seems likely that by next week, things will be back to how they were before July. The atmosphere is quite different from last week.
Back to Miebashi

It seems they’ve released a lot of water from the Miebashi River. In such cases, heavy rain is usually expected within a few days, but for now, the combined forecast for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday is less than 10mm of rain. This isn’t enough to significantly raise the river level. The dates when heavy rain is expected are July 23rd and 24th, but we’ll only know for sure on the day itself.

While working from home, I fancied a Zero Cola in the evening, so I headed to the convenience store. A light drizzle was falling, and the weather was quite pleasantly cool. It wasn’t hot, making it a comfortable night to enjoy some izakaya awamori.

For a brief moment, the rain was heavy, but it soon turned back into a very light drizzle. Before uploading today’s weather post, I took a moment to check the rain outside the window, and indeed, it’s just a very light drizzle.
Okinawa Weather Forecast

The weather in Okinawa is notoriously difficult to predict, but although rain is forecasted for the 14th, 15th, and 16th, the expected rainfall is less than 5mm, so it’s not significant. It might rain, but nothing to worry about. Today, there was a sunny icon, but rain was expected in the morning. There are continuous reports of rain, but they are all insignificant, except for July 23rd, which requires special attention.
For some reason, heavy rain is forecasted for July 23rd. Of course, we won’t know for sure until the 21st or 22nd. The Pacific Ocean makes weather predictions tricky, and the weather can change at any moment. Asking about Okinawa’s weather far in advance in open chats or group chats is pointless. Predictions are only reliable 2-3 days in advance. So, don’t waste your energy.
That’s all for today’s Okinawa weather. I’ll be back with more Okinawa weather updates tomorrow. Matayasai 👋
