Okinawa Weather on 16th July

☀️ Haisai! I’m CULT.
Today, the weather in Okinawa was the hottest day I’ve experienced in 2025. Just standing still made me sweat automatically. Usually, when cycling, the headwind should feel refreshing, but today, despite the breeze, it was a hot day. The temperature reached a high of 33°C and a low of 28°C.

The Scene Around Miebashi

This is the morning view. In front of Miebashi, it looks like it’s about to pour with rain, but in reality…

The sky on the opposite side was filled with a beautiful, clear blue. At this point, it wasn’t particularly hot. The sky to the west and east was so contrasting.

This is the view in front of Miebashi Station in the afternoon.
It’s been just 5 minutes since I went out… and it’s already hot. Usually, I don’t feel the heat much when it’s around 31-32 degrees, but today was a bit too much. It felt like the hottest day of the year.

Kokusai Street and the West Coast Scenery

This is the scene at Makishi Market Alley. Perhaps because it’s Wednesday, there aren’t many tourists around. It’s quite a tranquil sight.

It’s Wednesday afternoon, and the traffic on Kokusai Street is quite heavy. I heard that a lot of rental cars have been released this week. Perhaps that’s why there seems to be so many cars… It feels like there are many tourists around, but since it’s hot, they don’t seem to be walking around much outside.

This is the park in front of Fukushuen. It’s closed today as Wednesday is the regular day off. I captured a shot because the bougainvillea looked beautiful. [Google Map]

In front of Naminoue Shrine. Today, I noticed quite a few people travelling in yukata or kimono. Although yukata might look warm, they’re actually quite thin and not very hot.

In front of Naminoue Shrine. It was an incredibly hot day, but the sky was truly beautiful. By the way, it seemed like there wasn’t any event happening today.

Yesterday, I was too busy to include the sea in my Okinawa weather post, so today I’m adding a sea photo.
There hasn’t been much rain for a few days, and I was surprised to see the beach in such a clean state. Usually, when there’s not much rain, you would expect to see seaweed or fish remains, but it seems someone has intentionally cleaned it up as it was spotless.

Naminoue Beach will be closed until July 17th for the replacement of the blue buoys and jellyfish prevention nets shown in the photo. So, if you plan to visit the beach on the 17th, you’ll need to go elsewhere. [Naminoue Beach Notice]

So swimming is prohibited until tomorrow, but there are still some people out here. Are they staff members? They seem wet… Without the jellyfish prevention net, swimming is completely forbidden. It’s quite fascinating,

Photos of Okinawa Weather Taken on the Go

This is a pedestrian crossing button. For those of you visiting from Europe, this might be a familiar sight, but people from Korea or other countries might not be aware of it. If you don’t press the button, the signal won’t change. So, if you’re waiting at a pedestrian crossing and it feels like the green light is never coming on, try looking around for a button on a yellow box like this.

As I passed by, it was the time when primary school students were leaving school, so I saw many of them. As a foreigner, I never quite understood the concept of the randoseru. They say it can also serve as a helmet substitute during earthquakes, but I think it takes a bit more time to truly understand Japan as a country.

This is the view of Tomari Port. Even though I deliberately rode my bicycle in the shade, the weather was quite hot. I ended up sweating quite a bit. It was around 4 PM at this time, so there weren’t many boats docked at the port. Usually, by this time, they head off somewhere again.

This is the view of Route 58. I was looking to see if anyone was wearing long clothes, but there weren’t many. Wearing long clothes today might make it feel a bit hotter while trying to avoid the sun. Perhaps it’s a day when sunscreen is a must?
It’s not an advertisement, but I really like the sunscreen sold at Muji. It’s not just because I’m Korean, but Korean cosmetics are great. However, Muji’s sunscreen is as good as Korean products, so if you haven’t packed sunscreen, you might want to give it a try.

I’ve just come near home… and it’s so hot. I took a walk around Naha city and already felt exhausted and tired. At times like this, it’s best to quickly get home, take a shower, have a nap, and then get to work. So, I found something refreshing.

I tried the zenzai sold at Lawson for the first time. It costs 388 yen, and although it’s a bit too sweet for my taste, I appreciated the generous portion and refreshing quality. However, given its large size, the price seems a bit steep, doesn’t it?

I brought it home and enjoyed it. The ice grains were a bit large, which was a bit of a shame, but considering the low price and the fact that it included two pieces of rice cake, I thought it was alright. Then, after a shower around 6 p.m., I intended to take a short nap and then get some work done, but when I opened my eyes, it was past midnight. Perhaps due to the heat, I was quite exhausted.

This photo was taken at around 12:10, just past midnight. I usually only upload photos taken on the same day, but today is a bit special, so I’m sharing a photo from a different day. Although I upload daily, it’s not a strict rule. My personal rule is to upload weather photos taken on July 16th by 11:59 PM on July 17th. However, I’m making an effort to upload them quickly. The Okinawa weather posts are quite a big project for me. I’m working on something significant, so I can’t give up on daily uploads.
Tomorrow, I’m planning to go snorkelling in the Blue Cave, so there will likely be many sea photos. Therefore, tomorrow’s Okinawa weather photos will mainly feature the central area.
That’s all for today! I’ll wrap up here and return tomorrow with more Okinawa weather updates. Matayasai 👋
