Okinawa Weather on 25th July
🌦️ Haisai! I’m CULT.
Today in Okinawa, the weather was clear with blue skies during the day, but from late afternoon, there was a pattern of heavy rain and occasional drizzle. Typhoon Komai, the 8th of the season, is expected to reach the main island of Okinawa on the 26th, but by the time it arrives, it is expected to have transformed into a regular rain cloud rather than a typhoon. Therefore, even if it enters the area, it doesn’t seem like there will be a lot of rain.
Today’s highest temperature was 31°C, with a low of 28°C.
Morning in Miebashi and Kokusai Street

This is Miebashi at around 8 o’clock this morning. I went out to buy a drink, and although it rained so much yesterday, today looked completely different from yesterday.

This is the scene around noon. A parasol was needed during the day today.

I arrived at the car park and noticed the sky was so blue, so I captured a shot. I hoped it would stay like this until evening, but unfortunately, it didn’t.

Today, there are definitely a lot of tourists. I’ve heard that many people from all over Japan have come to Okinawa because a place called Junglia has opened. It’s a dinosaur theme park, and the embargo was lifted today, marking its opening. I’ll be visiting soon as well.
For your information, I also do photography at Universal Studios and Disneyland.

This is Makishi Market. Originally, this alley doesn’t have many people because it’s not the main street.

It certainly gets hot when the sun is shining down. The tourists all seem to be dressed in cool outfits. I always wear the same attire: a short-sleeved shirt, shorts, and Crocs slippers.

It was so hot that I went into a convenience store looking for Pepsi Zero, but couldn’t find it, so I just took a photo. This is the current humidity in Okinawa. However, compared to the heat in Seoul or Busan, Okinawa is less hot. The difference is that the sunlight is a bit more intense, so with a parasol, it’s definitely less hot than in Korea.

It’s hot… so I have a Zenzai to cool down. By the way, today’s Okinawa weather post includes everything I ate throughout the day.

They say we’re under the influence of Typhoon Komai from today… but the sky is just blue and beautiful. I’m on my way to buy some bread for lunch.

This is a local bakery near my home, and the bread here is delicious. It’s worth stopping by to pick up a few.

This is my meal for today. Perhaps it’s because of the heat, but I don’t feel like eating anything else after this.

American Village, No Influence from Komai

By around 4 PM, it started to rain. There was quite a heavy downpour for about 10 minutes. After that, it was more of a drizzle on and off, but fortunately, it didn’t rain while I was working on the Okinawa snaps. The sunset wrapped up beautifully as well. Interestingly, despite the continuous rain this week, not a single shoot was cancelled.

Typhoon No. 8, Komai, is expected to become just a regular rain cloud by the time it reaches Okinawa, so there’s nothing to worry about. Typhoon No. 9 has no connection to Okinawa, so it looks like we’ll have hot summer days continuing after the 27th. By the way, there are a lot of tourists at the American Village today.

We have finished all the sunset photography. Fortunately, today’s shoot wasn’t extremely hot. However, running around in the sun all day has left me without much of an appetite.

It’s evening at the American Village. I was supposed to go and cover teppanyaki, but honestly, I didn’t want to put anything in my mouth other than water and zenzai. So, I gave up on covering Okinawa’s eateries. My appetite was truly zero…

For my taste, it’s definitely Monster Energy.
Whether it’s Monster or Pepsi, the best ones are the products sold in Europe. The Monster and Pepsi in Korea or Japan just don’t taste as good. It’s just something to drink when you’re tired and there’s nothing else available…

It’s 8 PM and Gurume Sushi is bustling with people. By the way, it’s raining right now, and people are waiting outside with umbrellas. This place offers conveyor belt sushi that has been localised for Okinawa. I haven’t moved the content to Cultravel yet, so I’m leaving a link to my Naver blog.

Arriving home late in the evening, I didn’t really feel like eating anything… but Zenzai is always an exception. If you’re in Okinawa right now, head to a Lawson convenience store and ask for Zenzai. For the record, I prefer option number 2. Not too keen on the ones with mochi…

This is practically my dinner today. All the food I ate today is in this weather post. Today, it’s not exactly scorching, but being outside all day has left me feeling quite lethargic. I have another Okinawa snap photography schedule tomorrow, so I’m planning to quickly finish this weather post and take a rest.

Okinawa Weather Forecast

Well… Typhoon Komai, the 8th typhoon, will start affecting Okinawa directly from around 3 PM on the 26th. However, since the typhoon is quite small and already weakening, I’m not sure how significant it will be. It doesn’t seem like there will be much rain on the 26th, but quite a bit of rain is expected on the 27th and 28th. Even though the typhoon is weakening, the rain clouds will still pass over the Okinawa sky. [Source: AccuWeather]

This is the predicted path for Typhoon No. 8, Komai. Although it is said to pass directly over Okinawa, the North Pacific high-pressure system is still present over Okinawa, weakening the typhoon as it approaches. Even if it changes from a typhoon to regular rain clouds, it seems there will be a lot of rain, though not much strong wind. We’ll have to check again tomorrow to see how it develops. That’s all for today. I’ll wrap it up here and come back tomorrow with more weather updates from Okinawa. Matayasai 👋
