Okinawa Weather on August 2nd
🌦️ Haisai! I’m CULT.
Today, the weather in Okinawa was extremely hot. Running around for shoots made me sweat like rain, and the sunscreen kept melting, leaving grey droplets whenever the sweat dripped. In the afternoon, there was a short but heavy rain, which brought a brief moment of coolness. After the rain, the heat slightly subsided. However, it’s expected to get hot again from tomorrow.
Typhoon No. 10, Bailu, is not expected to affect Okinawa at all, but we are keeping an eye on it.
Okinawa Weather Video
After returning from today’s shoot, I took a nap, so there aren’t many videos or photos. If you keep running around in this blazing sun, you definitely need to shower and take a nap as soon as you get home.
A Day Unaffected by Typhoon Bailu

This is Miebashi at around 7 in the morning. It’s a photo taken from my home studio. Just looking at the blue sky, it seemed like it was going to be quite hot today.

This morning, I had a snap photography session scheduled in Okinawa, so I headed out to Kokusai Street. The sun was blazing like a laser beam from early on, making it incredibly hot. I haven’t even started the shoot yet, and it’s already sweltering.

Every time I find myself pondering… As someone who uses the Starbucks on Kokusai Street as a meeting spot, I really should take some nice photos of the place, but I’m never quite satisfied with them. This Starbucks is the coolest spot in the area. When it gets hot, head to Starbucks…

This is Makishi Market. Everyone in line here is from Taiwan. They’re waiting for Potama Onigiri, and I must say, it’s definitely tastier than Fukusuke’s Tamagoyaki. With the Korean and Taiwanese holiday seasons overlapping right now, there are a lot of tourists around.

This is the somewhat quieter Makishi Market. While filming today, the client wanted a cooler place because it was too hot, so we focused on areas of the Makishi Market that aren’t too sunny.

This is the water level of the Miebashi River. The water has decreased significantly, not because of a release from Naha City, but due to the lack of meaningful rain over the past few days, causing it to evaporate naturally. It means there is no sign of heavy rain that would affect the water level in the coming days. Therefore, make sure to bring an umbrella and sunscreen is essential.

After finishing the shoot and returning home completely exhausted, I treat myself to an Okinawa Zenzai. It’s from Lawson convenience store, and it’s really delicious.
Rainy Afternoon

Around 3 PM, it rained quite heavily for about an hour. I fell asleep while working around this time, and apparently, there was a huge rainbow, but I missed it.

It was raining heavily, so I excitedly went outside, and it was coming down at about this level. It didn’t last long. After the rain, the air became fresh again, and the clouds in the sky were beautiful, they say.

This is my perspective of witnessing the day for the last time. In Okinawa, it’s quite common to experience squall-like downpours lasting about 30 minutes to an hour. It clears up quickly after the rain, so even if the weather forecast predicts rain, unless it’s a typhoon, it’s rare for it to rain all day.

This is the evening view. In the evening, it becomes slightly cooler, so it doesn’t feel extremely hot.
Typhoon No. 10, Bailu, is not affecting Okinawa, and the weather forecast suggests that any rain this week will likely be brief showers like today’s squall. There don’t seem to be any low-pressure clouds nearby that would bring heavy rain to Okinawa.
I’ve been busy with filming this week, so I haven’t been able to upload useful information, but I plan to upload a lot during the coming weekdays. Please look forward to it, and I’ll wrap up here for now. I’ll be back tomorrow with more Okinawa weather updates. Matayasai 👋
