Okinawa Weather on July 15th
🌥️ Haisai! I’m CULT.
Today, the weather in Okinawa was quite indescribable. It started as a very clear and beautiful day at 7 a.m., then it rained at 8 a.m., turned cloudy, cleared up again at 9 a.m., and became very cloudy by 10 a.m. It was one of those days where the weather changed several times. The temperature ranged from a high of 31°C to a low of 26°C, and as predicted, about 2.5mm of rain fell, which seemed about right.
With 2.5mm of rain, it’s a level of rainfall that you can easily travel without worrying about.
Morning in the Miebashi Area

This is the morning view of Miebashi.
It was around 8 a.m., and there was a light drizzle. I had already been up since 7 a.m. working. At that time, it was incredibly beautiful, and I mistakenly thought it would be lovely all day. I should have taken a photo then… Anyway, after a bit of rain, it remained generally overcast, with a very fine drizzle throughout.

I’m on my way to the convenience store. Today, I have a lot to pay for, so I’m heading to the ATM to withdraw some cash this morning. These days, I’m using a card called Shinhan SoltravelJ. In July alone, I withdrew about 900,000 yen, and I haven’t paid a single yen in fees yet. If you’re Korean, the best card for travelling in Japan is definitely SoltravelJ. 👍

What’s the most important factor when measuring the weather in Okinawa? It’s the water level of the Miebashi River.
Currently, there’s a very light drizzle, but no water is being released into the Miebashi River. This means that there won’t be any heavy rain in the coming days.

It’s understandable, as the expected rainfall on July 16th is 2.4mm and on July 17th is about 8.8mm, making it unsuitable to release water into the Miebashi River. Looking at the weather radar data on the right, the centre indicates “Naha City,” referring to Okinawa Naha, and there are no low-pressure rain clouds directly affecting it, so it seems unlikely that there will be heavy rain in the next few days. Also, some people ask why I use Okinawa City as the weather reference while living in Naha. The reason for centring on Okinawa City is because it’s the heart of Okinawa. Geographically, it’s approximately central, so that’s how it’s determined. Naha is in the south, and the weather often differs from the north, which is why we don’t use Naha City as the centre.
Okinawa Weather in the Afternoon

This is Route 58. Today, I’m diligently cycling to post about some great eateries. It was around 3 PM, and it was quite overcast.

There were quite a few tourists at Fukushu-en today. How should I put it… they seemed to be of South Asian or Middle Eastern descent, not Southeast Asian. I think they might be from those regions. I’ve done a few photo shoots at Fukushu-en, and it’s a great spot for capturing beautiful Okinawa snapshots.

Originally, I was supposed to visit Naminoue Beach, but I’m a bit busy today. I only had time to visit the shrine. There were quite a few people dressed in Okinawan kimono or yukata taking photos today. By the way, I have two yukata photo shoots next week. Kimono can be too hot, but the thin yukata doesn’t seem as warm. Although it covers the skin, the fabric is light.

They say Naminoue Shrine enshrines the god of traffic, don’t they?
I actually saw someone who had just bought a new car praying for a blessing on their vehicle. I’ve only seen this on TV before, so it was my first time witnessing it in person. There was a priest? Shaman? Minister? I’m not quite sure, but they were walking around the car, offering kind words.

I’m on my way back due to an urgent matter, but that… looks like a kimono, not a yukata. It seems a bit… warm.
The Scene Around Kokusai Street

We are now on our way to Kokusai Street. It’s quite hot.
At this moment… it was clear. It seemed to be the clearest time of the day. While waiting for the signal, I felt the sweat trickling down my face, so I captured the feeling of heat in a photo. That’s why I deliberately took a picture of a slightly blocked area.

Perhaps because it was a Tuesday afternoon, the area in front of the prefectural office on Kokusai Street was bustling only with people campaigning for the election.

I find the election campaigners in Okinawa more exhausting than the earthquakes. They’re so noisy.

It seems that because it’s a Tuesday afternoon, there aren’t many vehicles on Kokusai Street. By the time Friday comes around, this place becomes quite crowded, but for now, it’s peaceful on a weekday afternoon.

It’s late afternoon. I’ve finished my urgent tasks, and since it’s a bit warm, I’m on my way to the convenience store to grab something refreshing. On the way, I saw someone wearing long clothes, which caught my attention. Wearing black in this sunshine… it seemed like it might be a bit warm.

I like Zenzai. Among the desserts I’ve tried in Okinawa, Zenzai seems to be the most common. It’s not too sweet, and it has fewer calories and less sugar than regular ice cream, which I appreciate. However, to enjoy it, you need to heat it in the microwave. Just heat it for about 2 minutes at 200W.

After finishing some urgent work, I took a short nap and found it was already 11 PM. To wrap up the Okinawa weather photos, I also took a night shot. The temperature was quite cool at around 26 degrees, but there were signs of rain earlier in the evening, making it feel humid. It was the kind of night where even a slight jog would make you sweat.
That’s all for today’s Okinawa weather update. I’ll stop here and will be back with more Okinawa weather news tomorrow. Matayasai 👋
