The Best Coffee Taste, Zhyvago Coffee Roastery
👋 Haisai! This is CULT.
Today, I’m going to talk about a must-visit café when you visit the American Village in Okinawa! It’s Zhyvago Coffee Roastery. Without further ado, the coffee is truly delicious, so make sure to visit.
Also, it’s a great place to visit if you just want to sit and relax after a meal. It’s the café with the most seating I’ve seen in Okinawa.

📌 Zivago Coffee Location and Opening Hours
☕️ The location of Zhivago Coffee Roastery is at the northern tip of Depot Island, right in front of the entrance to the Hilton Hotel. The store is large and the building is a bit unique, making it easy to find. ⏰ Opening hours are from 7 AM to 10 PM daily. [Google Map]

It’s located on the entire first floor of the Annex of the Leku Hotel, and you should look for the yellow building.
The entire first floor isn’t just a café; it shares space with a restaurant and a bakery. It’s great for wandering around and exploring, and it has a unique atmosphere that’s quite fun, so you might enjoy having some bread or just going for a meal.

As I usually skip breakfast, I opted for just coffee without the bread. Being a fan of hot Americano, I simply ordered coffee. It cost 650 yen. Next time I visit, I’ll make sure to try the bread in the afternoon or evening 🥪

This coffee machine is always a welcome sight.
I’ve always enjoyed delicious coffee whenever I visited Zhivago Coffee, so I think this coffee machine is remarkable.

It didn’t take long since it was just an Americano.
This coffee is really delicious; if I were to describe the taste, it’s a rich coffee. It has a great aroma and flavour, and it’s the best coffee I’ve had in Okinawa. I highly recommend you try it.
🔍 Interior Design

As mentioned at the beginning, Zhivago Coffee Roastery is connected to a bakery and restaurant. This makes it appear quite large, and you can freely wander around the adjacent store. The interior is quite nice too, so grab a cup of coffee and have a stroll.

This café features a two-storey loft structure, which is quite stylishly designed, making it fun to head up to the second floor. As you can see from the photos, it’s quite charming, so it’s worth having a coffee time upstairs. Wouldn’t it be even better to visit on a rainy day?
On the day I visited, the rain and wind were quite strong, so there were quite a few people around. My Okinawa snap shoot was rescheduled due to the rain, which led to this unplanned visit. I usually always go to the Zhivago Coffee by the beach, which is about 200 metres away. There’s usually no reason to come here, but today I decided to visit for the sake of introducing it.

On the second floor, there’s an outdoor terrace, and if someone is having coffee there in this weather, they must definitely be European.
The Europeans I know insist on using the outdoor terrace come rain or shine.

And there is also a meeting room where you can hold meetings. It can accommodate 8 people, and Okinawa is not only great for tourism but also an excellent location for corporate seminars and workshops. It’s not for executives, but for the staff organising events, it’s nice to sit here, enjoy a delicious cup of coffee, and make adjustments or improvements to the plans.

The rental fee is 1,000 yen per hour. There is a multifunction printer that can copy and print, and next to it is a table for the youngest to use the stapler. It seems like quite a sad table arrangement.
🏖️ Jibago Coffee Beach Café
Next is the Zhivago Coffee beachside café nearby. This is a place I visit quite frequently. It’s about 200 metres away, and the coffee here is almost as good and delicious. They use machines and beans from the roastery 😘
The opening hours here are from 8 AM to 8 PM, which is slightly shorter than the main branch. [Google Map]

It’s very easy to find the café on the main street of Depot Island in American Village. It’s not difficult at all. As you walk along the road by the beach and look towards the shops, you’ll spot this café. If you haven’t tried Zhivago Coffee yet, pop in and grab a cup to enjoy while exploring American Village. After all, a good trip is best enjoyed with a delicious coffee ☕️

The Zibago Coffee by the beach also has quite an interesting interior, much like the main branch. It somewhat resembles an alchemy lab…

The coffee I definitely recommend is the Americano.
To be honest, I haven’t tried anything else. The Americano and espresso are so excellent… With these two being so superb, is there really a need to introduce anything else?

I don’t usually drink espresso in Korea or Japan. Why? Because it doesn’t taste good.
One of my closest friends lives in Tuscany, and whenever I meet up with them, we always go on a hunt for affordable and delicious espresso shops. On days when I drink a lot, I can have up to ten espressos. In Italy, it’s possible because the espresso tastes good everywhere… but in Korea and Japan, the espresso… just doesn’t taste good.
So, I’m always sceptical. I tried espresso at a place called Jibago Coffee. The intense bitterness and slight nuttiness lingered in my mouth for a long time, so it passed the test. When I ordered an espresso, they glanced up at me. Do people not usually order this?
Anyway, following my Italian habit… I didn’t go to a table from the counter. Instead, I spun the espresso cup around about ten times, downed it in one shot, and left.
Espresso is meant to be downed in one shot.
My friend says that paying more than 1 euro for an espresso is something only fools do, so having a nearly 3-euro espresso feels a bit pricey.

And there are also pastries and biscuits to enjoy with your coffee. I’m not really the type to indulge in pastries or biscuits… but if I get the chance next time, I’ll be sure to write about it 🍪

The last one is an iced Americano.
I prefer hot Americanos and at places that really know their coffee, I only drink espresso. It’s not that I dislike iced Americanos, but I don’t particularly favour them either. However… for the Korean readers of this post, this is the most important part, isn’t it?
Yes, indeed, the rich flavour is alive and well. Plus, the ice cubes are not small but rather large, so they melt slowly, which is nice. Grab a cup of this and wander around American Village, taking in the sights. If you snap a photo of this yellow coffee cup, it might remind you later of the delicious coffee you had.
That’s all for today. As you travel around Okinawa’s American Village, I hope you’ll enjoy this delicious coffee. I’ll be back tomorrow with more Okinawa travel information. Matayasai 👋
