The Best Coffee Taste, Zhyvago Coffee Roastery
👋 Haisai! I’m CULT.
Today, I’m going to talk about a must-visit café when you’re in Okinawa’s American Village: Zhyvago Coffee Roastery. Without further ado, the coffee is truly delicious, so make sure to visit.
Also, it’s a great place to drop by if you just want to sit and relax after a meal. It’s the café with the most seating I’ve seen in Okinawa.

📌 Zivago Coffee Location and Opening Hours
☕️ Zhyvago Coffee Roastery is located at the northern end of Depot Island, right in front of the entrance to the Hilton Hotel. The shop is large and the building is a bit unique, making it easy to find. ⏰ Opening hours are from 7 AM to 10 PM daily. [Google Map]

It’s located on the entire first floor of the annex of the Leku Hotel, so look for the yellow building.
The entire first floor isn’t just a café; it shares space with a restaurant and bakery. It’s a great place to wander around and explore, offering a unique and fun atmosphere. You might enjoy trying some bread, or simply going there for a meal.

I usually skip breakfast, so I just ordered coffee without the bread. As I’m a fan of hot Americano, I simply went for the coffee. It cost 650 yen. Next time I visit, I’ll make sure to try the bread in the afternoon or evening. 🥪

This coffee machine is always a welcome sight.
I’ve always enjoyed delicious coffee whenever I visited Zhivago Coffee, so I think this coffee machine is remarkable.

It didn’t take long since it was just an Americano.
This coffee is truly delicious; to describe the taste, it’s a rich coffee. It has a great aroma and flavour, and it’s the best coffee I’ve had in Okinawa. I highly recommend trying this coffee.
🔍 Interior Design

As mentioned earlier, Zhivago Coffee Roastery is connected to a bakery and a restaurant. This makes it appear quite large, and you can freely wander around the adjacent stores. The interior is quite nice too, so grab a cup of coffee and have a stroll.

This café has a two-storey loft structure, which is quite impressively designed, making it enjoyable to go up to the second floor. As you can see in the photo, it looks quite nice, so having a coffee break upstairs could be a good idea. Wouldn’t it be even better to visit on a rainy day?
On the day I visited, the rain and wind were quite strong, so there were quite a few people around. My schedule for an Okinawa snap shoot was changed due to the rain, which led to this unplanned visit. I usually always went to the Zhivago Coffee by the beach, which is about 200 metres away. There wasn’t really a reason to come here, but today I decided to visit for the sake of introducing it.

On the second floor, there’s an outdoor terrace, and if anyone is having coffee there in this weather, they’re definitely European. From my experience, Europeans insist on sitting on outdoor terraces come rain or shine.

There is also a meeting room available where up to eight people can gather for discussions. Okinawa is not only a great place for tourism but also ideal for hosting corporate seminars and workshops. It’s perfect for staff members organising events to sit here, enjoy a delicious cup of coffee, and refine or adjust their plans.

The rental fee is 1,000 yen per hour. There is a multifunction printer available for copying and printing, and next to it is a table for the youngest to use the stapler. It seems like quite a sad table arrangement.
🏖️ Zibago Coffee Beach Café
Next is the Zhivago Coffee beachside café nearby. I visit this place quite often. It’s about 200 metres away, and the coffee here tastes almost the same and is delicious. They use machines and beans from the roastery 😘
The opening hours here are from 8 AM to 8 PM, which is slightly shorter than the main branch. [Google Map]

It’s very easy to find the café on the main street of Depot Island in American Village. It’s not difficult at all. As you walk along the road by the beach and look towards the shops, you’ll come across this café. If you haven’t tried Zhivago Coffee yet, pop in and grab a cup to enjoy while exploring American Village. After all, a good trip is best enjoyed with a delicious coffee ☕️

The beachside Zhivago Coffee also has quite an interesting interior, much like the main branch. It somewhat resembles an alchemy laboratory…

The coffee I recommend is definitely the Americano.
To be honest, I haven’t tried anything else. The Americano and espresso are excellent on their own… With these two being so great, is there really a need to introduce anything else?

I don’t often drink espresso in Korea or Japan. Why? Because it doesn’t taste good.
One of my closest friends lives in Tuscany, and whenever we meet, we always go around looking for affordable and delicious espresso places. On days when we drink a lot, we might have up to ten espressos. In Italy, it was possible because espresso tastes great everywhere, but in Korea and Japan, the espresso… just doesn’t taste good.
So I’m always sceptical. I tried espresso at Zivago Coffee, and the intense bitterness with a hint of richness lingered in my mouth, so it passed the test. When I ordered espresso, they gave me a curious look. Do people not usually drink it?
Anyway, following my Italian habit, I didn’t go to a table but spun the espresso cup around about ten times at the counter before taking a shot and leaving.
Espresso is best as a shot.
My friend says that paying more than 1 euro for an espresso is something only fools do, so having a nearly 3 euro espresso feels a bit pricey.

And there are also pastries and bread to enjoy with your coffee. I’m not really the type to indulge in pastries or bread, but if I get the chance next time, I’ll be sure to write about it as well. 🍪

The last one is an iced Americano.
I prefer hot Americanos and at places that really know their coffee, I only drink espresso. It’s not that I dislike iced Americanos, but I don’t particularly favour them either. However, for the Korean readers viewing this, this is the most important part, isn’t it?
Yes, it has that rich flavour. Plus, the ice cubes are large, so they melt slowly, which is nice. Grab a cup of this and wander around American Village for a look around. If you take a photo of this yellow coffee cup, it might remind you later of the delicious coffee you had.
That’s all for today. I hope you’ll enjoy this delicious coffee while travelling around Okinawa’s American Village. I’ll be back tomorrow with more Okinawa travel information. Matayasai 👋
