Weather in Northern Okinawa on July 31st
👋 Haisai! I’m CULT.
Today, I bring you the weather update from the northern part of Okinawa. Since I spent the whole day in the north for a shoot, I don’t have many photos from the central or southern areas, so I’ve named it the northern weather update. To start with, today might have been the hottest day I’ve experienced in Okinawa. Officially, the highest temperature was 31°C and the lowest was 26°C, but Okinawa usually has a constant breeze. However, today the wind was unusually weak, making it feel much hotter.

There is also footage from the south, but most of it is a compilation of short clips taken in the northern Okinawa weather. It’s a brief glimpse, so it’s nice to get a general feel for it.
Starting with the Weather in Northern Okinawa

The beginning… is Bise Fukugi. As soon as I arrived, I noticed the air felt a bit different today. How should I put it… even though it’s by the sea, the wind seemed noticeably weaker. It’s usually not this mild, is it? Today, strangely enough, there was no wind. I’m already worried. It’s hot…

As of 10:30 AM, the tsunami warning has been lifted, but Emerald Beach is still closed. You can’t enter. I’m not sure why, but the waves are definitely high right now.

These are the waves coming from the direction of Ie Island. With waves like that… I suspect the Blue Cave snorkelling might have been cancelled. I haven’t been able to check as I got home quite late. Usually, with waves like that, it’s cancelled.

At Bisezaki, the water is very shallow, and the side where the waves break is deeper. This means the waves don’t reach this side. Even waves of that size can be dangerous if you’re swept away. By the afternoon, most of those waves had disappeared.

The attire of the people is roughly like this. The clients who came for the morning shoot were also dressed very comfortably.

Visezaki is relatively safe even when there are waves. The water is shallow even at high tide. That’s why many people come here for snorkelling. Well… there’s not much to see, though…?

Today is a day when you’ll need a lot of sunscreen. That’s because I’ll be shooting outdoors almost all day. I bought this from Muji for about 690 yen, and it’s been very handy.

Today, the water at Bisezaki is very clear. It was in an ideal state for swimming, being very clear and transparent.

At this time, it was around 1 p.m., and people had already started gathering for a swim.

After finishing the shoot, I’m on my way to the next location. On the left, there’s a new yakiniku restaurant preparing to open. I’ll try to review it soon.

Before heading to the next shooting location, I treat myself to a bowl of zenzai. It’s from the Tamagoyaki brand by Fukusuke, and the ice is a very fine, premium type, much like the shaved ice from Korea’s Sulbing. However, the taste… the zenzai from Lawson convenience store is much tastier 😮💨

This is a cat sleeping in the most comfortable way in the world. While everyone else is sweating and snacking in the heat, this cat is having none of it.
Kouri Island Area

Wow.. It’s the first time I’ve seen the parking lot around Kouri Island completely full.
Today.. there were really an incredible number of people. Even the expensive 3,000 yen parasols were sold out at the beach.. Kouri Beach was absolutely packed with people.

The weather was so hot… If the baby was exposed to the sun for even a minute, they would start crying… So, I gave up on taking photos by the water or in the sunshine and continued shooting in the shaded areas. The extended shoot was quite exhausting. Indeed, for summer baby photos, the American Village is the best. There are plenty of places to escape the heat, and lots of decorations to keep the baby entertained if they get distracted, making it a great place for photography.
Depot Island is the best.

This is just a photo taken and registered for database purposes for when I write an article introducing Kouri Island later. If you go now, you can see this view too.

This is the photo for today’s thumbnail.
I’ve heard there’s a similar bridge on Miyakojima Island, but I haven’t visited Miyakojima yet. I think I’ll need to take a trip there soon. I’m planning to stay for about five days. During that time, I intend to take photos more seriously.
The Road to Nago

While filming today, it was so hot that I thought it would be better if it rained, but not a single drop fell. On the way to Nago, I saw a rainbow in the distance. It seems the rain doesn’t particularly like me.

This is bottled water, and you might wonder why I took a picture of it…
I drank about two-thirds of this water. And although it’s not in the photo, I also drank a bottle of iced tea. Yet, I didn’t go to the bathroom even once. Can you guess how hot it was?

This evening, I had eel rice at a rather nice place. I’ll organise my thoughts and share more about it with you later.

Now, having completed all the schedules, I’m on my way back from Nago to Naha. Before leaving, I captured a sunset. This is also in the video, but since the iPhone 16 Pro’s photos and videos aren’t great… it’s much prettier to take pictures with a camera.
It seems I’ve ended up posting photos of the weather in northern Okinawa. I was so busy from the morning and a bit overwhelmed, so all the photos are from the north, which is why today’s post title is a bit special: the weather in northern Okinawa. If I get to go on a business trip to Miyakojima, it seems like a good strategy to post about the weather in Okinawa Miyakojima in a similar way.
There’s no weather forecast today. It just seems like this weekend and next weekend… it would be nice if it rained, as it just feels hot.
That’s all for today. I’ll wrap it up here and return tomorrow with more weather news from Okinawa. Matayasai 👋
