Weather in Okinawa on 12th September
☀️ Haisai! It’s CULT.
Starting the Okinawa weather report for 12th September 2025.
Today in Okinawa, it was extremely hot. Although it’s usually a hot day, today was especially hotter. This was because there were hardly any clouds, resulting in an intense amount of sunlight. The sun was so strong that even a little exposure made you sweat like it was raining. The temperature reached a high of 33°C and a low of 28°C, which is very high. For reference, the highest temperature in Okinawa this year was 34°C.
Okinawa Weather Video for 12th September 2025
Today’s video includes a lot of footage shot on Ojima Island (奧武島). I went for a drive to take a break from a whole day of editing, as it was getting quite tedious. As expected, it was incredibly hot. There’s also a cute cat video included.
Weather Photos Taken on a Photoshoot

This is the view of Miebashi in the afternoon. At this time, it was a beautiful and ordinary summer day with clouds mingling with the sky, but the difference in heat was stark depending on whether the clouds were covering the sun or not. Today, I have car rental duties, so I’m heading out for work.

This is Miebashi Station. There seems to be a lot of water in the river. On days like this, even without releasing water, the high temperature seems to cause it to evaporate quickly. It was quite warm walking here.

I’ve arrived at Akamine Station. It’s a place you often pass by when you take the monorail from the airport to the city centre. Many people return their rental cars here as well. Although my company is located on Kokusai Street, most of the vehicles are in Akamine, so I come to Akamine Station quite frequently. I need to focus solely on editing [Okinawa Snap Photography] for a while, so I won’t be able to upload any content related to restaurants or travel information. Once things calm down a bit, I’ll try to upload all the information at once. I’m using Naver Blog to record my memories and impressions of the tastes.

I’ve arrived at Ojimasom (奧武島) by car. Literally translated, it would be Ouseomseom, but Google has labelled it in a unique way, so I’m following that. This blog is integrated with the Google API, so I have to be mindful of that… hence the unusual name. Anyway, this is an island I really like.
If you’re travelling to the south, make sure to visit here. This place is famous for its tempura Oshiro Tempura (大城てんぷら店)
Also, there’s a nearby izakaya that serves incredibly delicious yakitori, so be sure to check it out. Kushiya Yamashiro (串家やましろ)

At the back of the island, there are usually plenty of parking spaces, so I prefer to park at the rear rather than the entrance. Then, I order some tempura and take a few weather photos. By the way, it’s incredibly hot.

I often come here because I love this rural Japanese vibe. It’s the kind of scenery I saw in Japanese animations when I was young. Interestingly, the vending machines here are cheaper than those in Naha city or the northern areas. I’m not sure why, but it seems that only on Ojima Island, the drinks sold in vending machines are priced lower.

As the clouds gradually disappear overhead, the sunlight feels even more intense. Just standing still makes me sweat automatically. However, there are plenty of drink options available from vending machines, and they’re refreshingly cool, so no worries there. By the way, it’s great that on this island, you can easily find Pepsi Zero anywhere in Okinawa.
The country where Coca-Cola tastes the worst in the world is Korea, followed by Japan. That’s why I always end up looking for Pepsi.

I’ll need to upload to Cultravel later, but it’s already organised on my Naver blog. I’m taking a few more photos to supplement before uploading. I’ve only walked a short distance, yet I’m sweating quite a bit. It’s a day that feels more like summer than summer itself.

Personally, I really like these alleyways. I’m wandering around holding some leftover tempura… If I wander for about 30 more minutes, it seems like it might spoil, so I quickly head back to the vehicle.

After just about 10 minutes of wandering around, I was drenched in sweat. So, I popped into a shop to grab something refreshing to drink. There were cats here. Perhaps because I was carrying some leftover tempura, they gathered around me.

It’s one of those days when you feel sleepy in the shade. The sunlight is quite intense, and it feels a bit warm even in the shade. It still seems humid, but perhaps not as much as yesterday. Yesterday was really humid, but today it feels hot purely due to the intensity of the sun.

As the weather is hot, it’s nice to enjoy something like this. It’s a drink called melon soda, a treat where you place a scoop of ice cream on top of melon soda. At Blue Seal, you’ll find many drinks in this style.

Even though it’s a Friday afternoon, there aren’t too many tourists around. It’s partly because the holiday season has ended, and September tends to be a bit quieter. However, come October, the number of tourists will increase again. With holidays in Taiwan and Korea in October, it might get a bit busier. I recommend taking a drive to Ojimas Island and trying the tempura there.

Westerners are walking around shirtless. The temperature was certainly high enough for that. I’m not sure which country they’re from, but if they’re from Europe, this humidity must feel quite hot. Still, Okinawa is less hot than Osaka, Daegu, or Tokyo. Theoretically, Okinawa should be hotter as it’s near the equator, but the influence of the North Pacific High can’t be helped.
As for the 10-day weather forecast in Okinawa… there’s a slight chance of rain next week. If heavy rainfall is expected, I’ll let you know here again.
That’s it for the Okinawa weather report on 12th September 2025. I’ll wrap it up here and will be back with more Okinawa weather news tomorrow. Matayasai 👋
