Weather in Okinawa on 14th August
🌤️ Haisai! This is CULT.
Today is the 14th of August, and here’s the Okinawa weather report. There was a bit of rain early this morning. And there was a brief drizzle in the morning, which made today feel a bit more humid. It was a rare chance to see some rain, and with Typhoon No. 11 almost dissipated, there are no major weather issues expected for a while. So, for those travelling to Okinawa… you can look forward to an enjoyable trip. For now, Okinawa is cooler than Korea or mainland Japan.
Okinawa Weather Video for 14th August
In today’s weather video, I tried to add a little flair. However, you can just take it as a reference for what the actual weather was like today.
August 14th, Around Miebashi

This is the scene at dawn in Miebashi. Lately, I’ve been diving back into programme development, which has reduced my sleeping hours, so I often find myself waking up at dawn. Today, I’m excitedly creating various things. Ever since I was young, I wouldn’t go to sleep if a programme wasn’t working. Fortunately, everything is progressing smoothly now.
With a refreshing barley tea, I start a worry-free day, thinking it won’t rain anymore today.

In the Miebashi area, Thursday is the day for separating paper waste. It’s drizzling slightly right now, but it’s so light that it couldn’t even wet a single sheet of newspaper. It rained for about five minutes and then stopped. After that, the sunshine was quite intense.

This is the scene at Miebashi. It’s around 11 a.m., and it didn’t feel too hot yet. There was more wind than expected, so the perceived temperature wasn’t high.

It’s just past 4 PM and this is the scene on Kokusai Street. As expected, the number of tourists at this time is significantly higher than during the off-peak season. It seems that the arrival of a massive cruise ship on the west coast today has greatly contributed to this. Around 1,000 to 3,000 tourists disembark all at once.

This is the view of the Miebashi River. Currently, the water has been released, but it will be refilled at night. Around the 15th of each month, during the full moon period, it’s low tide, so they have no choice but to release the water. In the evening, they gather the water again. For the time being, there are no typhoons or heavy rains expected near Okinawa, so water resource management needs to be handled well as usual.

This is the view near Fukushuen. Seeing the tourists in their cool outfits… it would be good for you to prepare summer clothes too. Also, if you’re planning to visit the forest these days, there are a lot of mosquitoes, so make sure to bring mosquito repellent if you’re going for a forest bath.

This is Naminoue Shrine. There are a lot of tourists here. Two cruise buses dropped off tourists nearby. That means about 50-90 people arrived at once, which makes it even more crowded. This is just part of it, and there were even more tourists at the booth on the right selling amulets and omikuji.

There are people wearing Okinawa kimonos here. On the opposite side, there were about eight people wearing kimonos. In the summer, yukatas are a bit cooler than Okinawa kimonos. Of course, today the wind was quite strong, so it was a bit less hot.

This is the view of Naminoue Beach. Quite a lot of people for a Thursday, isn’t it? It’s really a perfect day for swimming today. The breeze is refreshing, and the sun is strong, so you’ll dry off quickly after a dip in the water, won’t you? Anyway… I noticed quite a few Westerners today as well.

This is the view under the Tomari Bridge. It’s quite cool here with the shade and the breeze coming from the west coast of Okinawa. There was someone lying here watching Netflix, which is a very wise choice. The wind isn’t weak; it’s rather strong. It’s not an uncomfortable wind, but perhaps the strongest cool breeze you could experience.

This is the view of Tomari Port. Perhaps because it’s the summer holiday season, ferries travelling to and from the western islands of Okinawa are coming and going all day. If you’re planning to visit places like Zamami Island, you should come to Tomari Port.

This is the last photo of the day. The wind was quite strong here too, making it a comfortable day to work on the August 14th Okinawa weather photos. Since the translation plugin is being updated today, you can expect more flexible posts to come, so stay tuned. I’ve been paying a lot of attention to plugin development lately. I need to finish writing quickly and get back to creating plugins 🤖
Okinawa Weather Forecast

Here is the weather forecast for Okinawa for the next 10 days.
The main island of Okinawa doesn’t have any particular issues. According to AccuWeather, it might show continuous rain, but it’s all just brief, sporadic showers. No need to worry about it. There aren’t any low-pressure clouds bringing heavy rain around Okinawa. Of course, there are tropical low-pressure clouds near the Mariana Islands and west of the Philippines, but even if they head straight to Okinawa, it would take about 5 days, so they won’t have any impact. Therefore, I think it’s more appropriate to prepare for the heat this weekend. [Source: Japan Weather News]
Even if it’s hot in Okinawa, it might just be the coolest place in Japan.
That’s all for the Okinawa weather update on August 14th. I’ll wrap it up here and come back tomorrow with more Okinawa travel news. Matayasai 👋
