Weather in Okinawa on August 16th
🌦️ Haisai! This is CULT.
Today, August 16th, Okinawa was still hot, but there were occasional squalls that brought the temperature down a bit. Of course, that rain turned into humidity, making it feel warm again. The highest temperature was 31°C, and the lowest was 27°C, but the perceived temperature was a bit higher. Today’s Okinawa weather includes the north, central, and south regions.

Today, I had a shoot in the northern area, so I took a moment to capture some footage on my way back. Although there was a slight drizzle in the morning, it wasn’t enough to disrupt the shoot. Between noon and 2 PM, there were sporadic showers. The rain varied by location, so it’s hard to say exactly how much fell.
From Miebashi to Busena Terrace

This is the view from early this morning. These days, I wake up around the time when Claude’s code tokens reset. After working for about 30 minutes, I use up all the tokens, and then I have to wait for about 6 hours, so I proceed with my work like this. I watch the sunrise, do a bit of coding, freshen up, and then head out for filming. I also noticed that it rained early in the morning. I could tell in advance that it would be humid today.

This morning’s shoot is taking place at the northern Busena Terrace Resort. So, I’m on my way to the car park. The sky was vividly blue and very clear. It was around 7:30, and it wasn’t hot yet.

This is the first-floor lobby of Busena Terrace. It’s quite a good environment for taking baby photos during an Okinawa snap shoot. When the weather is hot, babies can quickly get tired, but you can swiftly move to a cool place from the sun to soothe them. The building’s first floor is open with very large doors, allowing the breeze to flow through nicely. It’s cool even without air conditioning.

This is Busena Terrace Beach. Although I heard a lot of Korean from the terrace side, Japanese was the most common language, followed by Taiwanese. Checking which countries’ people prefer such resorts and studying consumer consumption patterns is a hobby of mine. By the way, when entering Busena Terrace, the person at the entrance asked if I would use the paid boat service, and when I said no, their immediate change to a stern expression was quite unpleasant. This is the view of the resort pool inside Busena Terrace. What you should pay attention to is the upper left part of the photo. There, a sudden shower is currently falling, while the upper right part of the photo shows clear skies and pretty clouds. In Okinawa, it’s common for one area to be raining while the opposite area remains clear throughout the summer.

I finished my lunch with a Wagyu burger at a place called Shogun Burger in the Nago area. As I was leaving, it started to rain. Before going in for the meal, the sun was blazing hot, but when I came out, it had turned into a slightly cool breeze. Of course, it soon changed back to hot air.
Central and Southern

On the way home, I stopped by American Village for a bit. Since it’s Saturday, I thought there might not be any parking spaces at the large supermarkets near my house, so I did my shopping at the Aeon Mall in American Village. This place has the largest public parking lot in Okinawa, so it helps save time. While there were sporadic showers in the northern areas, it didn’t seem to be the case in the Chatan area. There weren’t any puddles either.

After returning home, I sorted through my photos, took a nap, and then captured this view of the sunset before starting work. Once the sun sets, the heat slightly subsides. It’s still a hot summer, but it seems the peak of the intense heat has passed a bit.
For the time being, there are no typhoon reports near Okinawa. Even looking at the 10-day forecast, it shows occasional showers like today. There’s nothing significant to report in the forecast.
If a typhoon occurs or any unusual events happen, I’ll let you know. That’s all for the weather update on August 16th, and I’ll be back with more Okinawa weather news tomorrow. Matayasai 👋
