Weather in Okinawa on August 26th
👋 Haisai! It’s CULT.
Starting the Okinawa weather report for 26th August 2025.
Today was another typically quite hot day, but it felt slightly less warm than yesterday. It was a beautifully picturesque day with blue skies and fluffy clouds, although there were more clouds compared to yesterday. The sky and clouds seemed to be in a 50:50 ratio, so there were plenty of times when the clouds blocked the sunlight, making it feel slightly less hot than yesterday despite the high temperatures. The temperature reached a high of 32°C and a low of 27°C.
Okinawa Weather Video for 26th August 2025
Today is a rare day off without any filming, so I decided to explore around Naha a bit. Of course, I realised I had fallen behind on some editing, so I had to rush to catch up, meaning I couldn’t enjoy a full day of cycling. I had some personal errands to run, so I went to a place called Asato. This includes a slightly different video from what I usually upload daily.
Near My Home in Miebashi

This is the view around 6 a.m. at sunrise. It’s a wonderful way to start the day. However, upon closer inspection, both the roofs and the streets are damp from the rain. It wasn’t a heavy downpour, so the humidity isn’t too high today. Lately, instead of heavy rain, there seems to be more brief showers in the early morning. Of course, in the northern part of Okinawa, there are more frequent squalls.

On my way to Wakasa Lunchbox Shop around 11 a.m. It’s a really delicious lunchbox shop, and if you’re travelling to Kume Island, Zamami Island, Tokashiki Island, or Aguni Island, you’ll usually have to sit still on the ferry for more than 1-2 hours. I recommend buying a lunchbox to enjoy during the trip. It’s truly delicious 👍 [Wakasa Lunchbox]
By the way, I went out on my bike, and the weather is so nice. If this were Europe, I would have laid down on a grassy spot for a nap… But in Okinawa, the humidity is much higher than in Europe, so sitting on the grass feels a bit uncomfortable…

These days, I often go to a café to work on developing the Cultravel site, edit photos, or write blog posts like this. Today, I visited my favourite café in Okinawa, Y’s. After pondering for a moment about what to order, I decided on a matcha frappe. It’s quite delicious when chilled. This is a café I highly recommend, so if you ever find yourself in Naha, you should definitely give it a try. [Cafe Y’s]
International Street Area

After doing some work at Y’s Cafe, I needed to head to Asato by bike, so I’m passing through Kokusai Street. It’s Tuesday afternoon, and there are still quite a few tourists around. It seems like the summer holiday season is gradually coming to an end, as the number of tourists has noticeably decreased. However, my September Okinawa snap bookings are already quite busy. Well, being busy is a good thing 🥰

This is the entrance to the central Makishi Market on Kokusai Street. The traffic is so heavy that it’s difficult to find a good spot to take a photo. There’s a van parked next to me, so I couldn’t capture the photo from the exact centre. By the way, a parasol is essential, and of course, wearing cool clothing is a must. [Google Map]
Asato Area

This is Asato. I’ve come here to handle something a friend asked me to do. This area has an interesting vibe, with luxurious-looking buildings and old, shabby ones blending together. The most expensive apartment in Okinawa is also located in Asato. Originally, I was planning to move to Asato if it weren’t for the tricks of an Okinawan real estate agent. I had agreed to move in on February 25th, but the move-in date kept getting pushed back to March 1st, March 28th, April 5th, and so on, which frustrated me so much that I cancelled the contract and moved to Miebashi instead.
As a result, I have a very negative view of the profession of Japanese real estate agents.

This is Route 330. When I first came to Okinawa, it was December, and the temperature was around 17 degrees Celsius. I used to go up and down here almost every day. Even at 17 degrees, walking uphill daily made me sweat. If I had walked up now at 32 degrees, I would have been drenched in sweat. Of course, now I come up with an electric bike, so it’s not that hot. And as you can see, there are a lot of clouds, so the sunlight isn’t too intense.

I’m on my way home after finishing all my tasks. This is Omoromachi, the place where I first lived when I moved to Okinawa. It’s a spot where you can enjoy the view just before sunset, even if it’s not quite the sunset itself. It’s a place where you can see the beautiful clouds in the open midday sky. Of course, the house I live in now offers views of both the sunrise and sunset from home.

I’m on my way back home after doing some shopping at the market. I checked the water level in the Miebashi River, and it seems a bit low. According to the weather forecast, there’s some significant rain expected on Thursday afternoon. It looks like they’re releasing water in advance. By the way, I have a shoot in the north on Thursday, so I really hope it doesn’t rain.
Other than that, there’s no particularly special weather forecast. It’s expected to remain continuously hot, and there’s a large rain cloud over the east and west coasts of the Philippines. If this develops into a typhoon or something that affects Okinawa, I’ll update you in the weather forecast section.
That’s it for the Okinawa weather report on 26th August 2025. I’ll be back with more Okinawa weather news tomorrow. Matayasai 👋
