Photos of a bride and groom walking through eastern Jeju, from the rapeseed fields with Seongsan Ilchulbong (성산일출봉) in view to sunset at Baegyagi Oreum (백약이오름)

Hi, I’m author S.

These are photos from the second photo shoot I did on Jeju Island, at the end of March 2022. A storm had been blowing through.. so I’d figured the cherry blossoms would bloom later, but the temperature suddenly shot way up and they bloomed all at once, practically overnight. So I’ve included the photos taken with the cherry blossoms too.

Jeju Photo Shoot Summary

Here’s a rundown of the locations and the stories behind the photos.

HighlightsAn outdoor photo shoot capturing a groom and bride walking and sitting at ease as they travel through eastern Jeju Island, from rapeseed fields with Seongsan Ilchulbong in view to cherry blossom roads, Baegyagi Oreum and sunset. I'm not currently taking bookings for Jeju photo shoots. If I shoot there in the future, it could be around 400,000 KRW for 2 hours.

Sky Walking, Jeju Version

I brought a style I used to shoot a lot in Prague over to Jeju.

The groom stands beside the bride, who is holding a bouquet, under the sky.

The photos start with.. sky walking, Jeju version.
It’s a style I used to shoot a ton in Prague.. and I brought it over to Jeju Island to try it out.

The groom sweeps the bride up in his arms against the blue sky.

Originally this was an idea I shot at Olympic Park (올림픽공원) from 2011 to 2014. Back then it didn’t get much of a reaction, so I thought it would just be forgotten, but before I knew it, it had become a Sarangbi Snap signature 😀

The groom and bride face each other in silhouette inside the round frame of a cave entrance.

This is the photo the couple looked forward to the most and liked the most. It’s a shot that photographers doing photo shoots in Japan take a lot.. I’d always wanted to try it too.. so I gave it a go and copied it.

Seongsan Ilchulbong and Rapeseed Flowers

This is the one that tells you it’s Jeju Island.

The groom and bride kiss on a bench with Seongsan Ilchulbong in view, with yellow rapeseed flowers below.

Hmm..!
I wonder if this might be a photo that tells you it’s Jeju Island. Behind them is Seongsan Ilchulbong, the landmark of Jeju Island. While on the road in the morning, I spotted a pretty bench.. and thought, why not shoot here today? So I came over.
If all I had were photos full of flowers.. you couldn’t tell whether this is Jeju Island or Busan, could you?

The bride holds a bouquet and looks to the side among the rapeseed flowers.

Time to soak up all that yellow.

The groom stands smiling in the rapeseed field.

I only picked the spot.. I didn’t tell him to do that xD

The bride and groom stand back to back, laughing, in the rapeseed field.

I helped the bride.. but sure enough, the groom did that on his own.. He’s a cheerful guy 🙂

The groom and bride stand arm in arm in the middle of the rapeseed field.

The sun was incredibly strong that day. I wore a mask for the whole shoot, and even though I put on sunscreen, when I looked afterward, my whole face was sunburned except where the mask had been. I hope the two of them didn’t get burned ~_~

From the Flower Field to the Cherry Blossom Road

I photographed them as they walked and sat at ease.

The groom and bride sit side by side in a field of pale purple flowers, with an oreum and forest in the distance.

A truly hands-off shoot 😀
Just in case Korea has some new kind of tick, I laid something down for them to sit on. In Prague there are flower-field ticks that leave Koreans bedridden for days if they bite, so I generally avoid having people sit in flower fields or on lawns for photos.

The groom walks holding the bride's hand across a green field.

I took this photo after simply saying, “Let’s just take a relaxed walk~” Of course, if the shot isn’t coming out at all, I step in.. but they looked so fresh-faced and happy that I picked this one 😀

The groom and bride walk along a road beneath a tunnel of cherry blossoms.

Cherry blossom season opener!
I didn’t ask for anything in particular. Just don’t cross the center line, and keep to the left 😀
They’re so overflowing with freshness that the cherry blossoms seem to be getting pinker and pinker!

The groom and bride walk hand in hand along the cherry blossom road.

There’s money lying on the ground, so let’s look for it 😀
I don’t think the shoot here took even 10 minutes in total. It was done in one go, you see. It came out well, so I didn’t try anything else and moved straight on.

Under a cherry tree, the bride holds a bouquet and the groom links arms with her.

While driving to the next spot.. in case there were no cherry blossoms where we were headed.. I stopped for a moment and took just one more 😀

Seongeup (성읍) and Baegyagi Oreum

We moved on through the scenery of eastern Jeju Island.

The groom and bride sit beside rapeseed flowers in front of a stone wall, with a pavilion visible above them.

A tough one from Seongeup ;_;
The super ultra sunlight was just too strong.. even though the rapeseed flowers were behind them, their faces looked really yellow in the photo, like Pikachu. The hardest editing job.. Anyway, you need at least one photo like this.. to get the feeling of having been somewhere far away in Korea, right?

The groom and bride have changed into casual clothes and are smiling in sunglasses on a path lined with silvergrass.

Baegyagi Oreum!
For these photos, they changed clothes and I photographed them in the relaxed style of a couples’ photo shoot.
I found there were so many photographers shooting here! Everyone smiled and greeted me back, which was so nice 😀
Even when there are people behind them.. I just blur out the background and shoot. It’s a single path.. so it’s hard to shoot without people. So the photos end up centered on the two of them, and if I went for a chic feel for no reason.. I think I’d cringe when I looked at the photos again in about 5 years. So I kept the mood relaxed.

The groom and bride have changed into casual clothes and are standing on an oreum trail with wooden steps.

My photos have a guiding principle, and it’s.. family harmony and happiness. So my photos don’t really have that cool, chic look.

A very solemn and serious photo.jpg
“Let’s think seriously about what to eat for dinner tonight.”

Sunset

We wrapped up as the sun went down.

The groom and bride face each other in silhouette against a sunset sky.

This photo gave me a lot to think about today.
It’s a sunset photo.. but I was about a minute late, so it ended up being kind of a dull photo. And there were exactly eleven groups shooting there.. Do I really need to come here? If you go to the end of Jungang-ro (중앙로), lots of planes take off from Jeju International Airport, so wouldn’t it be better to shoot with those contrails? That’s what I started thinking.

The couple really liked the photos and said they’d even make a large framed print, so I felt really pleased with how the day had gone.
I hope they stay healthy for a long, long time and are always happy. Thank you xD

Booking Info

I’m not currently taking bookings for Jeju photo shoots.

I’m not currently taking bookings for Jeju Island photo shoots. These photos were taken at the end of March 2022, and this portfolio is a record of the feel I went for when shooting on Jeju Island. If I shoot on Jeju Island in the future, it could be around 400,000 KRW for 2 hours. Photo shoots in Gyeongju are in full swing now, and I’m continuing to expand to other areas. This kind of feel is entirely possible in Korea too, and my base is Tongyeong, Geoje, Changwon, and western Busan 😀
You can find booking info and contact details on the Sarangbi Snap page.
