Sunset with the kids amid American Village’s Christmas decorations

Hi, I’m author S.

Here are some photos for you. American Village again, of course.

The baby leans against their father's shoulder and looks at the camera in the sunset light.

Okinawa photo shoot summary

I took photos as the family ate ice cream and watched the sun go down in American Village.

HighlightsI barely direct anything and just go with the flow. If the kids are watching the sun go down, I ask mom and dad to join them, and I take a few photos as they walk along too.
Things to NoteA beautiful sunset brings so many people.. sometimes I edit out the people on either side.

Today’s shoot starts at sunset.
As usual.. there’s barely any posing. Just going with the flow..

The child is in their mother's arms beside a doll dressed as Santa.

There’s a shop in Depot Island that sells nothing but cat dolls.. this was at the end of 2025, so perhaps that’s why.. the cats were dressed as Santa. I wonder.. are these something you can only get in Okinawa? The dolls are a bit unusual. I’ve noticed quite a few kids like them. American Village has.. quite a few unusual shops.

The child holds their mother's hand as they walk past a shop with Christmas decorations in this vertical photo.

I take a few shots as they stroll along too.

The child touches a Christmas wreath decoration.

I basically have a pecking order when I take photos.
The kids always come first, usually the youngest.. then the grandparents, then mom and dad, and finally uncles, aunts and so on. As for photos with mom and dad.. there are plenty of chances to take those without me having to think about it, so I don’t worry too much about them. Grandparents keep stepping back, so I keep pulling them back in. Oh, there are no grandparents today. So you’ll probably see a little more of the youngest.

A little plug for American Village
Seriously.. even just a year earlier, a lot of Koreans had a negative view of American Village.. I did my bit to help change those perceptions *-_-*

The family walks with the kids through the shopping area in this vertical photo.

I often have them stand here for photos.. but if that’s not quite working, I just slip in some candid shots like this.

The family poses in front of a teddy bear.

The kids are copying exactly what I did.
Who can resist a teddy bear?

Ice cream time

The family smiles as they look at a phone screen together.

Blue Seal has an ice cream flavor called Blue Wave.. the soda coloring in it turns your tongue blue. The kids think it’s funny and keep sticking their tongues out, and I’m watching for those moments too.

The family stands on a palm-lined path in the sunset light in this vertical photo.

This is a shot I get a lot of requests for.
Got to have a little framed photo to hang at home.

The child runs along the path in front of the Christmas lights.

Got to get a shot like this too.

The family walks down a street with palm trees and buildings in view.

When the sunset is beautiful.. there are so many people..
It’s a bit of a double-edged sword.

The family stands beneath the sunset sky in this vertical photo.

A shot like this works too.

The family sits on the breakwater at sunset.

Edited out the people on either side..

The family sits on the breakwater with colorful buildings in view.

This was another regular shot.
You need a landmark in there if you’re submitting it to school.

The two kids smile as they look out to sea from the breakwater.

The kids are watching the sun go down.

The family sits on the breakwater looking out to sea, seen from behind.

Here’s the view from behind.
I’ve already taken their side profiles.. so I quickly bring mom and dad in and ask them to watch together.

The family sits on a stepped bench in this vertical photo.

A regular setup. Putting that landmark to use again.

The family walks along the beach at sunset.

You can’t see the sunset from Sunset Beach.. the breakwater blocks it.. but I still make the photos look atmospheric.

The family walks along the water's edge in this vertical photo.

The kids like playing chase with the waves, so I take lots of photos of that too. They run back when a little wave comes in, then head forward again when it retreats, over and over.

And here’s how the shoot ends.

It was lovely spending time with you. Wishing you good health and happiness always.

I’m taking a break from Okinawa photo shoots. I’ll post a separate announcement if I start again.

I’m not currently taking bookings for Okinawa photo shoots. I may start again someday, but there’s no date set, so I’ll post a separate announcement if I do.
