Okinawa Weather 5th July 2025

Today in Okinawa, the weather on July 5th was without any great earthquake rumours or typhoons, but it was a day of endless cycles of sunshine and rain.
The rain would fall for about 20 minutes, followed by an hour of clear skies, repeating endlessly. As a result, it was quite a humid day, with temperatures reaching a high of 31°C and a low of 27°C, though it felt warmer due to the humidity. Despite the cloudiness, the heat from the humidity was unavoidable.

Miebashi Area

This is the view of Miebashi. Someone asked me where Miebashi is, and it refers to the residential area right next to Kokusai Street.
I’m working on creating a program to bypass Instagram’s automated monitoring, but it hasn’t been going as smoothly as I hoped, so I stayed up all night… I ended up sleeping in and woke up at noon. The first thing I saw when I opened my eyes was the rainy weather in Okinawa.

The rain kept starting and stopping endlessly. It wasn’t raining continuously all day; it was a strange weather with blue skies appearing as well. This is my bicycle, and it’s covered with raindrops. I worked on removing rust yesterday, but since I didn’t apply any rust prevention, it seems I’ll have to do it again soon 😥

This is what Okinawa looks like around 2 PM. It was raining quite heavily at this time. The bottom right shows a school, and students practising baseball hurriedly ran inside the school building.

It’s raining quite a bit. In the photos, you might notice a somewhat rough texture, which is entirely due to the falling raindrops. I found it fascinating to see this amount of rain under a blue sky, so I decided to capture it. I wanted to show you that this is the pattern of rain in Okinawa.

I went out again around 6 PM. Some people were dressed in long clothes. If you keep moving, you start to sweat, but if you walk calmly and breathe slowly, it doesn’t feel too hot. The humidity was such that if your heart rate increased even slightly, you’d start sweating immediately.

Overall, people dress in a very breezy manner. Naturally, I’m also in a T-shirt, shorts, and Crocs slippers. I believe this is the true Okinawa TPO.

This is the view of the sunset around seven in the evening. I had something to take care of, so I couldn’t observe it, but on days like this, a rainbow is sure to appear. It’s a shame I missed it.

Okinawa Weather: Night-time Kokusai Street

Today, I came to Kokusai Street for a night snap shoot in Okinawa. It seems there are quite a few tourists, probably because it’s a Saturday afternoon. Although there’s a rumour from a dubious book about a major earthquake on July 5th, it doesn’t seem to have affected the number of tourists much from what I can see. There was no earthquake, and no typhoon either.

This is Kokusai Street, where you truly get the feel of a tourist spot. We took a short break from filming due to the rain, and it’s noticeable how significantly the number of Chinese tourists has decreased.

The Makishi Market has a roof, so you won’t need an umbrella in this area. By the way, you know the lanterns above? They’ve removed quite a few of them, which is a bit disappointing. We’ve lost a pretty photo spot, but it’s time to find something new.

I initially planned to use this as a thumbnail, but since there haven’t been any notably rainy days recently, I chose a different image for the thumbnail today, even though I like this one. I intend to use it later when I write an article introducing Kokusai Street.

It rained a bit in the evening… It was enough to get my clothes wet if I ignored it and continued shooting, so I took a short break in front of a shop before proceeding. It was definitely an evening that required an umbrella.

Today, I’ve just finished another snap shoot in Okinawa. It rained midway, so the shoot ended quite late… which means today’s Okinawa weather post is also delayed.
I’ll wrap it up here for today, and since there’s rain forecast for tomorrow as well, I’ll be back with photos of Okinawa’s rainy weather. Matayasai 👋
