Okinawa Weather on 19th July

🌥️ Haisai! I’m CULT.
Today in Okinawa, I started shooting in the afternoon. After spending all day yesterday shooting and running around under the sun, I felt so lethargic that I couldn’t do anything, so I just slept all morning. The temperature reached a high of 32°C and a low of 28°C, which was 1°C cooler than yesterday, but yesterday definitely felt much hotter. The sun was incredibly harsh yesterday, and today, although it was generally cloudy, the heat was intensified by the strong humidity.

From Miebashi to the West Coast of Okinawa

This is the view of Miebashi around 1 PM. You can see the blue sky, but overall, it was a cloudy day. However, as soon as I stepped out of the house, I could feel the humidity. Although it didn’t rain heavily yesterday, there were brief downpours of about 10 minutes in various places, which might have evaporated and caused this humidity.

I came to ride my bicycle, but there are raindrops on it. It seems it rained about an hour or two ago. I was sleeping all morning, so I’m not sure how much it rained, but it doesn’t seem like it was a lot. When I briefly got up to check something at 7 a.m., it wasn’t raining at that time.

7월 19일 오키나와 날씨 오후 토마리 근처

Today, I’m heading towards the west coast to take some weather photos of Okinawa. Of course, I’ll also be posting about a great place to eat for lunch.
I’ve developed a knack for covering Okinawa now… I choose slightly quieter times, avoiding meal and break times. I really don’t like waiting in line.

7월 19일 오키나와 날씨 후쿠슈엔 입구의 맑은 하늘

This is Fukushuen. The weather was quite overcast, but just as I was about to take photos, the sky suddenly turned blue. It’s beautiful to take pictures inside Fukushuen. Of course, the camera’s performance is quite important… it’s a bit of a challenging spot though 🧐

7월 19일 오키나와 날씨 나미노우에 해변의 관광객

This is Naminoue Beach. It’s the safest beach in Okinawa. It offers perfect protection against most tsunamis, and has a double-layered jellyfish prevention net, making it a fortress-like spot. The only downside is that the Tomari Bridge in front obstructs the view of the horizon.

7월 19일 오키나와 날씨 나미노우에 해수욕장

Normally, on a Saturday afternoon, this place should be bustling with people, but this week, it feels like there are significantly fewer tourists compared to last week. Or perhaps it’s because the weather is overcast today, and people aren’t in the mood to visit the beach. If it were me, I probably wouldn’t have gone to the beach either, as it was generally quite cloudy.

7월 19일 오키나와 날씨 나미노우에 신사의 모습

It’s really strange… The weather is cloudy today, but oddly enough, whenever I pick up the camera, the sky turns blue. Fascinating…
There weren’t too many tourists at Naminoue Shrine for a weekend. It’s definitely fewer compared to last weekend. I suppose it’s because there’s talk of a typhoon this week, and many days are expected to be rainy. The prices of plane tickets have also dropped significantly.

I visited the park next to the shrine. Since I need to know everything about Okinawa, I capture these little corners. It seems like a nice place to spend time outside of summer, but perhaps not during the summer. Also, since this is a hill made of soil, it feels even more humid than other places. Just standing still makes you sweat continuously.

7월 19일 오키나와 날씨 기모노 입은 여성들

While moving to take photos of the Okinawa weather on Kokusai Street, I noticed a kimono and decided to sneak in a shot.
Originally, traditional Okinawan kimonos have layers of clothing underneath, giving them a certain weight, but the attire of those women looks quite light. It seems they’ve skipped the inner layers due to the heat.
I have two kimono shoots scheduled for next week… I really hope the rain stops. I dislike the rain in Okinawa even more than you do. It’s quite tiring when the shooting schedule gets messed up. 😡

Photos of Okinawa Weather Around Kokusai Street

I bought a Zenzai from Lawson convenience store… After leaving the store and moving for about 3 minutes, it seemed half melted. I tried to find a bench to sit and eat it, but after another 2 minutes, it looked like it would turn into a drink, so I just sat anywhere on the street to eat it. As expected, Zenzai is delicious 😋

This is the view of Kokusai Street.
Now I understand why there are fewer tourists near Naminoue. It seems that there are generally fewer tourists coming in this week. There weren’t that many people on Kokusai Street either. However, the traffic on Saturday was still heavy as usual.

7월 19일 오키나와 날씨 미에바시 강의 수위는 높음

There is no forecast for heavy rain until next week. The concern is the week after that.
The photo shows the water level of the Miebashi River, and storing water at this height indicates that there will be no heavy rain for at least a few days. At this level, it can withstand heavy rain of 100mm in a day, but if more rain is expected, the river is drained to the point where the bottom is visible the day before. This is the most accurate rainfall forecast for the next 2-3 days.
Therefore, there is no heavy rain expected in the next 2-3 days.

This is the scene at Miebashi around 6:30 PM. I woke up from a nap and went out to buy a drink. This evening was hot, not because of the heat, but because it was humid.

This is the evening panorama of Naha. It was generally cloudy today, but strangely, it cleared up just when I was taking photos… I think this video might be the most accurate representation.

Okinawa Weather Forecast

2025년 7월 4-5주차 기상 예보도

Next week, there is a forecast of rain in Okinawa, but it will mostly be in the form of brief showers. It’s the kind of light rain that you don’t really need to worry about when sightseeing or travelling. There might be sporadic showers, or in some areas, a brief 10-minute downpour followed by clear skies. So, depending on whether you’re in the southern, central, or northern parts of Okinawa, it could be sunny in one place and cloudy in another, making for quite a random weather pattern. Fortunately, there’s no typhoon influence either.

2025년 7월 19일 오키나와 남부 기상 레이더

The issue arises after the 26th. Tropical depression clouds are forming east of the Philippines and south of Okinawa, and there is a high probability that these could develop into a typhoon. If these clouds do develop into a typhoon, it will be named Typhoon Francisco, the 7th typhoon of the season. However, it has not yet developed into a typhoon, and its path remains uncertain. Consequently, the rainfall forecast for after the 26th has been adjusted from around 10mm three days ago to around 20mm now. This suggests that Okinawa will be affected, either directly or indirectly. [AccuWeather]
I’ll keep you updated with the latest news as it comes in.
That’s all for today’s weather update from Okinawa. I’ll wrap it up here and be back with more weather news from Okinawa tomorrow. Matayasai 👋
