Okinawa Cafe: 846 Yajiro — Delicious Acai Bowl in Northern Okinawa!

Today I want to tell you about a pretty nice cafe up in northern Okinawa. It’s called 846 Yajiro — as a cafe they only have two coffee options, hot and iced, but they offer the Japanese dessert amazake and acai bowls, so I think it’s a place where you can enjoy a snack or browse some new fashion. Right in front there’s a beach with a view of the Sesoko Bridge, so it’s a great spot for a photo.
Hmm… I’ve been doing a lot of shoots at the Sesoko Hilton lately. Before and after every shoot, Sesoko Island… there’s really not much to eat there. If you want a proper meal you have to go off the island, so I recommend adding this place to your list since their desserts are tasty.

📌 846 Yajiro location

Yajiro is located right next to the Sesoko Bridge, and when you step outside the café you get a lovely view of the bridge. It’s a great spot to visit either before or after going to Sesoko Island. It’s closed every Friday and ⏰ opening hours are from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. [Google Maps]
There’s a nearby Fruits Cafe, but that place is closed on Thursdays, so if you’re visiting Sesoko Island on a Thursday your best bet is to go to 846 Yajiro. Each café has different closed days.

This is the entrance to 846 Yajiro. The day I first visited… the weather kept flipping between sunny and cloudy. The parking lot is spacious, but the access lane is a bit tight. If you’re a confident driver, an Alphard shouldn’t be a problem — but only if you know your vehicle’s size. Other 8-seater vans like the Noah, Serena, or Voxy aren’t especially difficult to enter. The roughly 10-meter approach requires careful driving.

As expected… you really need to come out to Motobu. There are spots that give that roomy, Korean-style café vibe. Naha’s real estate is expensive, so the cafés there are all tiny, aren’t they? They’re cute and pretty, which is nice… but I also like open, wide places like this. Places like this are great for taking photos of kids — they’re convenient for close-up portrait shots, and from farther away you can completely blow out the background.

The menu here… they only have two coffees — iced and hot — and besides that there are seven kinds of amazake juices. For food there’s an acai bowl and some sherbet. I tried both… and both are really delicious. Highly recommended 👍

I later found out that the brand 846 Yajiro seems to be a Japanese lifestyle/street-fashion label. It’s kind of a concept where they even sell clothes at the café. Since they sponsor sports teams, including Japanese baseball teams, you’ll also see apparel displayed along those lines.

I always wander around in a plain short-sleeve T‑shirt with no print and just shorts… my hair sticks straight up from the sweat… I know it might not look like it, but believe it or not I did a lot of fashion shoots when I was in Korea — I know many famous supermodels and have shot celebrities too. Back then my job was basically going to well-known select shops to shoot every single day, and this place has exactly that vibe. Since each piece of clothing is so different, I think anyone working in fashion should stop by and take a look.

🍌 Acai Bowl

It has nuts, fruit, and so on. When you scoop it up with a spoon and eat it, you get this thought: it’s not that the price feels high — they’ve just thrown in a bunch of expensive ingredients, right? So that’s why it’s pricey. It’s a taste that makes sense.

This was my first time trying amazake.
The first sip tasted like coconut, so I had a bit of a reflexive dislike. No matter how much coconut flesh I eat… I never like the taste. Because of that feeling, the first sip wasn’t great… but the more I drank it, the more I liked it.

The combination of nuts, ice cream, and fruit is really tasty. It’s a style I’ve never tried before. As for me, Yoajeong? I haven’t even seen one in person — I only saw it as memes online, so maybe it’s that kind of thing. I don’t really know since I’ve never actually had anything called Yoajeong, but perhaps that’s it?
But if they sold this in Korea… I think it would catch on. The downside is that all the ingredients would be expensive to source in Korea…

Even as I write this post, I’m busy editing my Okinawa snaps.
Photoshop just updated and apparently added Nano Banana… they’ll probably charge an arm and a leg for it again, right? I don’t need it, haha
Seeing bananas made me think of that, hehe

They even serve a hot cup of coffee. The coffee is, well… ordinary.

Looks like the sandy beach right in front belongs to this café — it was labeled “Private Beach”. The weather’s not great…

So I retook it on a beautiful day.
My camera and editing presets are set up so that when the sunlight is strong, corrections are easy… Even if I’m a bit casual about it, it still gives this kind of feel. All it needs is good weather.

I visited again a few days later. The first time there were so many cars I didn’t even notice these things, but since I came in the morning there was a swing and a heart I’d never seen before.

I’m heading off after doing a little bit of work for a short while.
Work really never ends… My schedule during Chuseok was so packed… I don’t have many shoots planned for now, but the next few days are likely to be pretty tough.

This is the view from the other side. It looks like a curated shop no matter how you look at it.

Acai sherbet and, what was this again… anyway, it’s a delicious amazake.

This one is really tasty too… but the acai bowl feels a bit better. One particular nut makes a big difference. What it is… it’s a flavor I tasted back when I was in Korea, but I don’t really know exactly what it was—there was definitely a difference…

On my second visit they even gave me this.
“gamsahabnida” — it’s kind of odd Korean, but they laughed and said it was funny. hehe

This one seems a bit sweeter than the acai bowl, but it’s delicious as always. Loaded with nuts
Again, it’s full of pricey ingredients..

Last time I had a bit of a negative reaction, but this time I enjoyed drinking it.
I don’t think there’s a drink with this flavor in Korea, is there? It’s made mainly from fermented rice, but it’s not alcohol. Maybe they make it from the fermented rice before it turns into alcohol?

846 Yajiro — enjoyed another delicious meal today.
If you’re heading to or from the Sesoko area, it’s a great stop when you’re a little hungry — too much for a snack but not quite for a full meal. Their acai bowl is delicious, so have a bowl.
