Weather in Okinawa on 2nd September

👋 Haisai! This is CULT.
Starting the Okinawa weather report for 2nd September 2025.
Today in Okinawa, it was mostly cloudy throughout the day. In the afternoon, there was quite a bit of rain for about an hour, but fortunately, the wind wasn’t too strong, so it was manageable with an umbrella. Then, around 8 PM, it rained again for about 30 minutes, and it was enough to need an umbrella. It’s been a while since Okinawa had a significant amount of rain.

Okinawa Weather Video for 2nd September 2025

Today’s Okinawa weather video includes scenes of rain.

On the afternoon of 2nd September 2025, in Okinawa, the weather is lovely. Students are playing and running around in the school playground.

It’s around lunchtime at an elementary school in Naha. Today, I have a lot to do, so I went out a bit earlier than usual to take weather photos. It did rain in the morning, but not heavily.

On 2nd September 2025, the weather in Okinawa during lunchtime shows a bustling International Street filled with many tourists.

This is the view of Kokusai Street. Even though it was a Tuesday lunchtime, there were quite a few people around. It hadn’t started raining yet, but it felt a bit humid. There were many clouds, so the sunlight was rather weak. Today, it felt hot more because of the humidity than the sunshine.

2nd September 2025, Okinawa Weather: The view from the western end of Kokusai Street is very cloudy.

This is the view at the intersection in front of the prefectural office.
In my opinion, it’s always the hottest place in Okinawa. I wonder if there’s anywhere else with such wide asphalt and so many vehicles passing by. Every time I come here, I start sweating automatically.

Okinawa West Coast

The weather in Okinawa on 2nd September 2025: The view of the entrance gate of Fukushu-en. The day is very cloudy.

[Fukushuen] I took a snapshot as I passed by. Today, there weren’t many tourists since no cruise ships were docked. This place is quite close to the cruise terminal, so it usually gets a lot of cruise tourists.

On 2nd September 2025, the weather in Okinawa was clear on the west coast near Naminoue Shrine, but mostly cloudy elsewhere.

[Naminoue Shrine] was bustling with tourists in kimonos today. The western sky was mostly clear, but the sunlight wasn’t particularly strong. A refreshing breeze would be nice.

The weather in Okinawa on 2nd September 2025 is clear on the west coast.

This is the West Sea. The waves are quite high, and the breeze is refreshingly cool. It’s a great spot to watch the sunset, so if you’re travelling to Naha, it’s worth a visit. [Google Map]

2nd September 2025, Okinawa Weather: A slight rain is falling over Naminoue Beach.

This is [Naminoue Beach]. Recently, it was the place with the fewest swimmers I’ve seen. The sunlight wasn’t particularly strong, and the waves were gently rolling, so it didn’t quite feel like the ideal situation for fun swimming. It was a weekday, which might explain the lack of people.

On 2nd September 2025, the weather in Okinawa showed a slight drizzle over the Tomari Bridge.

This is Tomari Bridge. It seems like a high wave warning has been issued, as the ferries are docked at the port without departing again. Normally, ferries arrive at Tomari Port, unload passengers and cargo, reload, and then leave the port as quickly as possible.

Miebashi and Tomari Wharf

I quickly returned home to get back to work. I needed to organise things related to the business trip to Miyakojima at the end of September, so I was hastily working when I heard the sound of rain. Looking out to the balcony, I saw it was starting to rain lightly. But about 10 minutes later, the blue sky disappeared, and it began to rain quite heavily. It seemed to rain for about an hour. It was the heaviest rain I’ve seen recently.

Weather in Okinawa on 2nd September 2025: An umbrella for afternoon outings.

I have to go out for a business meeting in the afternoon. I brought an umbrella.
In Okinawa, if you use a transparent umbrella, people keep taking them, so I use an umbrella that no one can steal. If anyone else uses this umbrella in Okinawa, it’s like admitting they’re a thief.

The weather in Okinawa on 2nd September 2025: Children with randoseru and umbrellas on a rainy day.

An elementary school student wearing a randoseru is walking with an umbrella. However, it seems the student on the left has already been caught in the rain and is completely soaked.

The weather in Okinawa on 2nd September 2025: The Miebashi River is quite full.

It seems that the water in the Miebashi River is being stored rather than released. Although a typhoon has formed near Okinawa, it is not expected to hit Okinawa. Therefore, since no heavy rain is expected in Okinawa within the next 10 days, they are storing the water in advance.

The weather at Akamine Station in Okinawa on 2nd September 2025 is very clear after the rain has stopped.

I came to Akamine Station for some errands. Perhaps because the rain had stopped, the sky was very beautiful.

On 2nd September 2025, the weather in Okinawa is very clear. The reflection of sunlight on the west coast is quite intense.

And… driving was a bit challenging. The sunlight was intense, and the asphalt reflected the water, making it very dazzling. This phenomenon doesn’t last long, so just take a 10-minute break at a convenience store or somewhere similar. It’s dangerous.

The view of Naha from the west coast on 2nd September 2025, Okinawa weather.

This is the view of the West Sea pier. The sky is incredibly beautiful. Even at this moment, a few raindrops fell, but it’s nothing to worry about.

The weather in Okinawa on the evening of September 2, 2025, at Tomari Port is cloudy.

And I made a wrong choice on my way home from work… A journey that should have taken 5 minutes from Tomari Bridge to my house ended up taking 30 minutes. It was such a waste of time on a busy day. I also had a meeting until 3 a.m., and it was incredibly humid from evening till dawn. It felt like the humidity was creeping up my trousers to my underwear. I remember it as the most humid day I’ve ever experienced in Okinawa.

Typhoon No. 15 and Weather Forecast

Expected Path of Typhoon No. 15

This is the projected path of a tropical depression that hasn’t yet developed into Typhoon No. 15 but is highly likely to do so within the next 24 hours. Once again, it seems likely that this typhoon will have nothing to do with Okinawa. Since I started living in Okinawa, not a single typhoon has come. I’m someone who’s very curious about what it’s like when a typhoon hits Okinawa, and I’d love to capture it on film as content, but it seems that’s not going to happen.
Anyway, I’ll update you again tomorrow on what happens with this tropical depression.

This concludes the Okinawa weather report for 2nd September 2025, and I’ll be back tomorrow with more Okinawa weather updates. Matayasai 👋
