A summer photo shoot in Prague, from daytime in a white shirt to sunset in a gray coat

Hi, I’m author S.
Today I’ll show you photos from a solo shoot with a man in Prague the previous summer.

A man in a white shirt walks along a cobbled alley.

Prague Solo Photo Shoot for Men: Summary

From daytime walks in a white shirt to sunset photos in a gray coat.

●Prague Solo Photo Shoot for Men
A solo shoot for men is all about confidence. Walk tall with Prague as your backdrop.

Shoot LocationPrague
Shoot DateJuly 15, 2023
Duration1 hour
Group Size1 person
Price₩250000
HighlightsCharles Bridge (Karlův most) gets crowded, so I often used the bridge itself as a backdrop. At sunset, I preferred taking more shots elsewhere to waiting for a single tram.
Things to NoteThere were lots of tourists in summer, and I rarely took photos on Mánes Bridge (Mánesův most) on crowded weekends either.
A man sits on a narrow stairway covered in graffiti.

A solo shoot for a man.. it’s all about confidence. Don’t let someone standing in front of you with a big camera intimidate you. Do your own thing, or confidently give my suggestions a go, and the photos usually turn out well.

A man stands with his back to the camera beneath a blue sky dotted with clouds.

I always like walking against the sky 😀
There are jump shots where he looks like he’s flying too.. but I didn’t particularly like them, so I left them out of the selection :'(

A man stands at a viewpoint overlooking Prague Castle (Pražský hrad) and the city’s red roofs.

You’re in Prague, so the photos should look like Prague.

A man in a white shirt leans against a graffiti-covered stairway.

The weather is lovely, and so are the clouds above the stairway.

A man sits inside a stone structure with green woodland around him.
A man perches in front of a church dome.

St. Nicholas Church (kostel sv. Mikuláše) is very far away, but I framed it to look close and very large. Having the landmarks loom large in the photos really gives you that feeling of being in Prague.

A man carrying a bag touches his hair on a street with a view of the castle.

You can’t go wrong with Hradčanská Street (Hradčanská).

A man stands in the square in front of St. Vitus Cathedral (Katedrála sv. Víta).

Such lovely weather that day. Well.. summer weather is usually pretty good anyway ^_^

A man stands in a garden overlooking red roofs and a domed church.

A shot in the Garden on the Ramparts (Zahrada Na Valech) too

A man sits on a white bench beside the castle wall.

This is the former Prague Castle Riding School (Jízdárna Pražského hradu).

A man holds strawberry ice cream and looks straight ahead.

Gelato.. ugh.. it all melted.. nearly ruined the shoot.. Luckily, it was near the end of the daytime shoot, and none got on his clothes.

A man in a gray coat leans against a castle wall beneath a streetlight and a sunset sky.

Time for the sunset shoot. Summer usually delivers a sunset. Well.. even without one, I edit the photos to give them that sunset feel.

A man stands by the river with Charles Bridge (Karlův most) and a tower behind him at sunset.

Even in my early days doing photo shoots in Prague, I wasn’t particularly keen on taking photos on Charles Bridge (Karlův most). Too many people. So I often used Charles Bridge as the backdrop.

A man leans against a railing below Charles Bridge (Karlův most).

This spot.. well.. it’s a parking lot, so I improvise depending on the situation.

A man in a gray coat stands on a street with a tram stopped behind him.

This is Letenská Street (Letenská). I took lots of tram photos here. It would be nice to catch a tram coming toward me from the left.. but there’s no time to wait for that at sunset. I’d rather use that time to get two or three more shots elsewhere. That’s how I approach it, at least.
I’m not the type to go all in on a single shot.

A walking shot on Mánes Bridge (Mánesův most). All you need to do here is walk confidently.
But I rarely took photos here on weekends. Too many people

A man stands by a riverside railing with a tower of Charles Bridge (Karlův most) in view.

With Charles Bridge (Karlův most) as the backdrop.. I usually shoot vertically for solo clients and horizontally for couples or families. The key here.. is how beautifully you frame Charles Bridge in the background.

A man walks along a street with streetlights and the castle in view.

I often used this spot instead when there was construction at the pier on Aleš Embankment (Alšovo nábřeží).. though I’m wondering why I selected a photo shot with the aperture wide open ~_~

A man stands beside the motion blur of a passing tram.

I capture the motion blur of a passing tram. For couples, I usually frame the tram horizontally, but for solo clients I often compose the shot diagonally like this. Well.. it works for couples too 😀

The key to this photo is getting it perfectly level. As level as if I’d measured it with a ruler, for a clean finish 😀
10 or 20 years from now, photos taken this cleanly will still look beautiful.

Squeezed every last drop out of that sunset 😀
You can certainly tell it’s summer from all the tourists.

Booking Information

I’m not currently offering photo shoots or taking bookings in Prague. If I resume, I’ll announce it separately.

I’m not currently offering photo shoots or taking bookings in Prague. If I resume, I’ll announce it separately. If I do shoot in Prague again, I’m thinking of charging around 250,000 KRW for 1 hour in the daytime, or around 400,000 KRW for 3 hours combining 2 hours in the daytime and 1 hour at night. The 3-hour shoot would include 30 edited photos and 450 original photos.

●Frequently Asked Questions
  • Don’t let the camera intimidate you. Confidently do your own thing or give my suggestions a go. On Mánes Bridge (Mánesův most), I took photos as he simply walked with confidence.
  • For this shoot, I made the distant St. Nicholas Church (kostel sv. Mikuláše) look close and large in the frame. Having the landmarks loom large really gives you that feeling of being in Prague.
  • I usually shoot vertically for solo clients and horizontally for couples or families. In photos with a tram, I often position solo clients diagonally in the frame too.
  • When construction to the left of the streetlight at the pier made the scene look messy, I used the spot shown in the photos in the article instead. I wasn’t referring to a separately named location.
  • As I mentioned in the article, I used to edit photos to give them a sunset feel even without a sunset. These photos were taken in summer, from daytime through sunset, and the exact shoot date is unknown.
