Walking with Charles Bridge (Karlův most) behind them: a Prague wedding photo shoot at sunset

Hi, I’m author S.
AI sure is handy. Photos get delivered so much faster now, which means I have more photos I can upload to the blog, and that’s nice. In the past, even when I’d shot and edited lots of good photos, I’d often forget about them and let them slide, or they didn’t fit the season.
Today I’ll show you photos from a sunset photo shoot with a bride and groom in Prague in spring 2024 😀

Prague Wedding Photo Shoot Summary

I left out most of the daytime photos and mostly posted the sunset ones.

●Prague wedding photo shoot
Sunset photos of a bride and groom with Charles Bridge behind them, verticals and horizontals kept straight.

Shoot DateMarch 12, 2024
Duration2 hours
Group Size2 people (a bride and groom)
Deliverables30 edited photos, 450 original photos

HighlightsThey wanted photos with straight verticals and horizontals, so I shot that way. I prefer shooting with Charles Bridge in the background to shooting on the bridge itself. I also made sure Prague looked good in the shots.
Things to NoteThe sunset wasn't very intense that day.
The bride and groom kiss at a railing with Prague spread out behind them in the sunset light.

First, the package. This was the daytime-to-sunset package, a 2-hour shoot in total. I left out most of the daytime photos when uploading this post (there were just too many..). Sunset shoots were a popular package, after all. After this day, I had sunset shoots scheduled five days in a row.

The bride and groom kiss beside a streetlamp and a railing, with a church in Prague visible behind them.

This is a vertical shot on Aleš Embankment (Alšovo nábřeží), where I shot a lot back then. Nobody else has tried this one, so I’m the first 😀
I usually take two versions: one with the aperture stopped down so St. Nicholas Church (kostel sv. Mikuláše) behind them is a bit sharper, and one with the background softly blurred like this. Since this is a kissing pose, I picked the blurred one, so you’d focus on them 😀

The bride and groom kiss at a railing with a blurred background and Prague Castle (Pražský hrad) behind them.

They’re newlyweds, so of course there should be lots of kissing 😀
The sunset wasn’t a dramatic one, but I somehow managed to make it look pretty.

The bride and groom kiss in front of an iron railing, with Prague Castle (Pražský hrad) behind them.

Come to think of it, it’s been nothing but kissing poses.
The bride and groom wanted lots of photos with perfectly straight verticals and horizontals.. so I worked to keep everything dead straight. It’s the habit I stress most when I teach photography. You have to keep your horizons level. Get into the wrong habit when you first learn photography, and you’ll spend the rest of your life being the fool who can’t keep a horizon level.

The bride and groom lean on a bridge railing and smile, with Prague Castle (Pražský hrad) in the distance.

This was one of my regular photo spots. A spot where lens quality really matters 😀

The bride and groom walk toward the camera arm in arm, with Prague Castle (Pražský hrad) behind them.

I take casual shots as we walk through Prague.
It’s not hard at all. You can all do it 😀

The bride and groom smile as they walk down the street, with Prague Castle (Pražský hrad) behind them.

I also catch the chemistry between the two of them in candid moments.

The bride and groom stand at a railing with the Vltava River (Vltava) and Charles Bridge (Karlův most) behind them.

I take care to get Prague into the frame. That’s why I’d rather shoot with Charles Bridge (Karlův most) in the background than shoot on the bridge itself.

Kissing poses are normally a very small part of my shoots, but there are lots of them on this day.

Cihelná was peaceful that day too.

The bride holds a bouquet beside the groom, with Charles Bridge (Karlův most) behind them.

This is another one they used when they wrote their review.
Thank you for being so kind about it, even though you’re sensitive to whether the photos are level.

The bride and groom walk along a cobblestone street with tram wires overhead.

I shot a lot of these then too.
I deleted every traffic sign that stood out nearby.. Honestly, the traffic sign clutter in Prague seems to get worse by the day.

The bride and groom are backlit as they walk arm in arm among other people.

I did make it to Charles Bridge (Karlův most) anyway. I chose this photo because it captures Prague well, too.

The bride, holding a bouquet, and the groom sit on steps with St. Vitus Cathedral (Katedrála sv. Víta) behind them.

This is a shot I often did during night shoots, but it works well at sunset too 😀

In this black-and-white photo, the couple kiss behind a bouquet in front of St. Vitus Cathedral (Katedrála sv. Víta).

St. Vitus Cathedral (Katedrála sv. Víta) is in there too 😀
Quite a range of shots, right? When a photo turns out well, I just move on to the next place quickly. I can’t stand staying in one spot and just changing the pose over and over. It’s not like this is Jeju Island or an indoor studio..

The bride and groom sit on steps in front of an antiquarian bookshop.

The result was different from what I’d pictured, so I picked it out.

Walking down Nerudova Street (Nerudova) in strong backlight 😀

The bride and groom hold hands in an alley and turn around, smiling.

Hehe, hehehe ^____^

The bride and groom come down steps holding hands and a bouquet, smiling.

I think simply having them walk makes for lovely photos.

I used backlight and reflected light to give this photo a hazy look reminiscent of spherical aberration. That’s really how the photo turns out 😀

The bride and groom embrace in front of a passing red tram.

We finish with a passing tram 😀
I only uploaded about half of the photos. Past around 20 photos I usually run out of things to say, so I pace myself.
I applaud your excellent eye in choosing Sarangbi Snap, and I wish you both happiness and good health always. Thank you.

Booking Info

I don’t know yet when the next Prague shoot will be.

I used to charge 450,000 KRW for the two of them, and I delivered 30 edited photos and 450 originals. I’m not taking Prague bookings right now. If a shoot is scheduled, I’ll announce it separately.
