Fun, smile-filled outdoor photo shoots!
Okinawa Photo Shoot: A 70th Birthday Walk at Bisezaki
Family photos celebrating a 70th birthday, walking and playing with the grandchildren on Bisezaki Beach
Hi, I’m author S.

Okinawa Photo Shoot Summary
I started at the beach, took photos along the wooded paths and captured a 70th birthday award ceremony too.
Details
The shoot starts at the beach by the entrance to Bise Fukugi.
I tried starting with walking against the sky. They were on a trip to celebrate a 70th birthday, and I’ve had quite a few shoots lately on trips celebrating the older generation’s milestones.

Usually on these shoots.. people ask me to focus on their parents, and to me, this is what that looks like.
Because.. grandparents don’t show their friends photos of themselves. They show off photos with their grandchildren.

This is Injeolmi, who lives by the entrance to Bisezaki. This cat loves being petted. Cats usually don’t like kids, but this one likes them too.

I keep taking photos along the coast as the family walks toward Bisezaki Beach. It’s a candid shot.

Quickly grab a shot like this too.

I’ve already got a reputation for never directing anyone.. but I do. Just not very often.

I usually ask them to do this.
Grandfathers tend to be.. um.. a little hesitant around their grandchildren, you see? They’re happy to ask their own kids to do things, but I’ve noticed they don’t ask much of their grandchildren.. So I keep telling the kids to take their grandfather’s hand and walk over.

They’re exchanging fist bumps.
These really are the kind of photos that won’t look awkward even in 50 years.

By about that age, boys.. start finding it less fun to play with mom and dad, so they played badminton, something they could still enjoy together.

I’m a bit.. my shoots are all about the kids, with mom and dad firmly in supporting roles.
Once the kids start playing, I photograph them at play and bring mom and dad in. Time to play with the kids.

Well.. I do take photos of the grandparents on their own too.

Again, I get everyone involved. The grandparents are the stars today, so although the kids matter too, I’m giving the grandparents a little more time in front of the camera.

It would be strange if a shoot with kids went perfectly.

I take one with Ie Island in the background.

It’s a candid shot.

I wonder what’s got them so happy.

I took this as they walked along the wooded path.

The oldest keeps messing around and is getting told off by grandpa. So from here on, the oldest looks unhappy in all the photos.

This is the main photo from the Bise Fukugi path. Isn’t it a lovely wooded path?

There’s a short wait while the surprise is being set up.

An award ceremony to celebrate a 70th birthday.
I told them to clap 🙂

Something like this makes a nice change for a 70th birthday. I’d known about it since the booking consultation, so I planned to photograph it once we’d walked about this far..
The grandparents seemed to have no idea until just beforehand.
Proposals and things like that.. were possible too, with advance notice. I’ve photographed plenty of surprise proposals, so I know how to keep a woman’s intuition from giving the game away.

A photo to mark the occasion.

Everyone together to mark the occasion.

A cover photo to go behind the profile picture.

The older child is still in a mood.. the younger one is having a blast..

Today’s thumbnail photo.

“Go over to grandma,”
I said, and off the little one ran..

And here’s how the shoot wraps up.
Wishing you continued good health and a long life.
Booking Information
If I offer photo shoots in Okinawa again, I’ll make a separate announcement.
The Bisezaki photo shoot package in northern Okinawa was 300,000 KRW for 1 hour, including 20 edited photos and 300 originals. However, I’m not currently taking bookings, and I haven’t set a date to resume shoots. If I do offer them again someday, I’ll make a separate announcement. I’m currently doing shoots in Gyeongju, and my base covers Tongyeong, Geoje, Changwon and western Busan. For booking information and contact details, please visit the Sarangbi Snap page.
- I took photos of the grandparents on their own too. As well as photos with their grandchildren, I took photos of just the grandparents together.
- I don't direct people very often, but I speak up when needed. That day, I asked the grandchildren to take their grandfather's hand and walk over, and I told everyone to clap during the award ceremony too.
- I'd heard about the award ceremony during the booking consultation, so I'd already planned how far along the walk to take those photos. The grandparents seemed to have no idea until just beforehand.
- That day, the oldest looked unhappy after getting told off by grandpa. It would be strange if a shoot with kids went perfectly.
- The island in the background is Ie Island. I took a family photo on the beach with Ie Island behind them too.
