Family photos in Prague, letting the baby play however they liked

Hi, I’m author S.
The baby in today’s photos was already past their first birthday,, but these will give you an idea of what a first birthday photo shoot looks like.
The filtered photos on the left are a bonus; the ones on the right have natural colors. The look on the left gets a lot of attention on Instagram, while moms prefer the natural colors, so I’m posting both. How can I put it,, women go wild for filtered photos when they’re looking through rose-colored glasses, but once they become moms, there’s no fooling them. They get very particular about choosing photos, too,,
Let’s get started.

There’s no particular posing. I ask dad to keep a close eye on safety and usually just photograph the baby playing as they are, with a Prague landmark in the background whenever possible. So there’s no set formula, and no two shoots could look the same. I always adapt to what’s happening.

The baby and their parents sit on a bench with Prague Castle (Pražský hrad) in view.

First Birthday Photo Shoot in Prague: Summary

Walking on their own, then being carried, I followed the baby’s lead as I took photos.

●First Birthday Photo Shoot in Prague
Even with Prague in the background, the baby is the star of the photo.

HighlightsI ask dad to watch out for safety and photograph the baby playing just as they are. In those brief moments when the baby listened to mom and dad, I also quickly took photos of them standing together.
Things to NoteI'm not currently doing photo shoots or taking bookings in Prague.

Of course, I sometimes take photos like this too, since they need something to frame.

It was very overcast and gloomy. Still, I somehow managed to make the photos look good in editing.

I take photos of that sulky face too.

The baby perches on the railing at the viewpoint in a hanbok.

I try some more posed shots with the baby sitting down, too,

The baby takes steps in a hanbok while holding their father's hand, with Prague Castle (Pražský hrad) in the background.

The baby plays hide-and-seek with dad too. Of course, there’s a slope beyond that metal railing, so I always pay close attention to safety when photographing babies.

The parents sit holding their baby on a bench overlooking the view.

One more with mom and dad before heading down 😀
You know,, after playing on their own, babies have these very brief moments when they listen to mom and dad. That’s when you have to be quick, fast, and speedy with the camera.

I capture candid shots like these from 20–30 meters away.

The baby walks along a woodland path in a hanbok, holding their father's hand.

How can I put it,, since this is Prague, Prague should be the star,, but in baby photos, the baby is always the center of the universe.

The baby stands in a hanbok against a green background.

Watching what babies do is so much fun 😀
I wonder what they’re looking at that’s making them so happy,,

They told me the baby hadn’t smiled much during their first birthday photos, but to my eyes, these photos are full of happiness.
Why insist on a studio for a first birthday shoot,, I think you get better first birthday photos by taking the baby to a park with their favorite toys, having mom and dad stand by as the supporting cast, and letting the baby do whatever they like.

“What should we do?”
“Just let the baby do whatever they like.”

The mother holds the baby beside a stroller in an arched arcade, with the father alongside.

Giggles 😀

The parents walk through an arched arcade with a stroller.

Even just walking along, they look so happy-

Sometimes walking on their own,

The father looks at the baby smiling in a hanbok in their mother's arms.

And sometimes being carried between locations 😀

The baby beams in a hanbok with their parents in the arcade.

I was grateful they were so cooperative through the two-hour shoot,,

The baby walks toward the camera down an alley in a hanbok with both arms spread wide.

Huh? Off they go somewhere on their own,,

The baby appears in a hanbok in three consecutive shots in the square in front of the cathedral.

Next time I should crop in closer before putting the shots together-

Natural colors don’t reduce image sharpness.
The photos will still look crisp when the baby has grown up, gotten married, and had children of their own 😀

Ooh~
Just so you know, this was a fleeting moment caught on camera 😀

The baby grins at the camera in a hanbok.

Such a sunny smile-

The parents and baby sit in the square.

Got to have a photo to remember the landmark by, right?

The baby walks across the square in a blue pinafore dress.

Outfit change~

The baby walks down an alley in a blue dress.

The colors dads in photography clubs love.jpg

The baby stands beside a peacock in a blue dress.

I used to take lots of photos with swans, but after an incident where a swan assaulted(?) a baby, I generally go with peacocks. Peacocks aren’t as aggressive as swans.

The parents hold their baby beside a garden bench.

This spot usually calls for a horizontal shot, but that would make the baby look like a prop rather than the star, so I shoot up close like this.

The parents and baby sit on a wall with Charles Bridge (Karlův most) in view.

At Cihelná toward the end of the two-hour shoot, the baby seemed to be running out of steam ~_~

Ending on a cute note!

It was such a fun shoot with you. Wishing all three of you good health, happiness, and plenty of joyful moments, always!
Thank you!
