Skála desserts: Raspberry Mousse and Potato Bread in Prague
Cukrář Skála, tucked down a lane in Prague, with one beautiful dessert after another
Dobrý den! I’m CULT.
Today I’d like to tell you about a shop that specializes exclusively in desserts, roughly between Prague Main Station (Praha hlavní nádraží), the Powder Tower (Prašná brána) and the Old Town (Staré Město).
To sum it up: better desserts than Café Savoy, at lower prices. All Café Savoy has going for it now is the interior,, Anyway, it’s very easy to get to, so if you’re visiting Prague and love desserts, do stop by.

Cukrář Skála at a Glance
The raspberry mousse is refreshing, and the potato bread has a fun texture that feels like a potato, right down to the skin.
Details
The shop is near the Powder Tower (Prašná brána). It’s tucked down a lane, but with Google Maps you’ll have no trouble finding it.

It’s a weekday afternoon,, and there are still lots of customers. It’s a really popular place 😀
Best of all,, the prices are so low.. I almost wonder how they can charge so little in the Prague 1 district,, There are plenty of restaurants in this district that keep raising their prices while serving terrible food.

I should try these as props next time I photograph kids, b,,but I suspect the moms wouldn’t be too happy..

I took a photo of this slush machine because it caught my eye. You don’t see these machines very often in Prague,, I wonder if they’re still around in Korea these days. When I was a kid, there was always a stationery shop paired with a snack shop by the school, and I had slush there every day. Oran-C orange was always the best flavor.

The customer in front has finished ordering and moved aside, so I can finally photograph the desserts. Every single one looks beautiful 😀
Desserts like these are much cheaper here than at Starbucks.

One good thing about this place,, it’s great for showing off on Instagram.
Well,, very few of my clients use Instagram, so that doesn’t really matter to them. Still, the desserts look beautiful and taste good, so I recommend it 😀

You pay up front here, so I’m posting the receipt first.
The shop is called,, Cukrář Skála, or Pâtissier Skála,, Skála is a Czech surname, though not a particularly common one. How can I put it.. Something like the Hong Family Sweet Shop?
Anyway, I ordered 4 desserts and two drinks, and the total came to 494 CZK.

I think I’d need to rearrange them on the plates for a photo,, Anyway, the colors look so pretty 😀

The red one is raspberry, and the yellow one is mango. The mango was a little bland, but everything else tasted good.

The raspberry mousse was my favorite. So refreshing 😀

I recommend this one: potato bread that really has the texture of a potato 😀
The outside really looks like potato skin, but you can eat it. They’ve given the bread a bit of that potato-skin texture, so it’s fun to eat, like biting into a boiled potato with the skin still on. Even the inside feels like potato,, The texture is fun. It isn’t tough like real potato skin. It’s a pleasant texture to eat.
The gelato,, was good. But Crème de la Crème is a step above.

The drinks are nothing special. If you want good coffee, go to Café Francin. The desserts are what this place really does well.
That’s my look at a dessert shop in central Prague serving delicious desserts at low prices.
The opening hours listed on Prague’s official tourism website are 7:30–20:00 on weekdays and 9:00–20:00 on weekends (checked November 2, 2026). I found no reports of the shop closing. The prices in this post are from my July 2024 visit, and I haven’t been able to confirm current dessert prices, so please check before visiting.
- The address is V Celnici 1034/6 in the New Town (Nové Město). Head down the V Celnici lane near the Powder Tower (Prašná brána).
- When I visited in July 2024, you paid up front. That's why I posted the receipt before the dessert photos in this post.
- I enjoyed the gelato too. To my taste, though, Crème de la Crème was a step above.
- The drinks were ordinary, so I recommend going for the desserts. If you want good coffee, head to Café Francin.
- It looks like potato skin, but you can eat it. It isn't tough like real potato skin and is easy to bite into. I found the texture fun, with even the inside feeling like potato.
- The Czech name is Cukrář Skála, which you could render as Pâtissier Skála. As I mentioned, Skála is a Czech surname, though not a particularly common one.
