KOREAN KITCHEN: Cold Udon in Prague, Tangy Broth and Chewy Noodles
Cold udon in Prague that brought back my appetite in the heat
Dobrý den! I’m CULT.
Today I’d like to talk about refreshing cold udon, just the thing when the heat leaves you with no appetite after walking around Prague. It’s from KOREAN KITCHEN, a place run by someone I know that I mentioned a lot earlier that year. I’d been too busy to visit for over half a year, but with a few days off, I finally dropped by.

KOREAN KITCHEN at a Glance
I had refreshing cold udon in a food court filled with natural light.
Details
It’s in front of Výstaviště, so it’s quite conveniently located if you’re heading to Stromovka Park (Stromovka) for a walk or a ride on a rental bike. You’ll find it in the food court on the top floor.
This cold udon is no longer on the menu, and I haven’t been able to confirm the current menu or prices (checked in November 2026). Google Maps lists the place as open, and I found no news of it closing, but the Centrum Stromovka vendor listing gives the hours as Monday–Saturday 10:00–21:00, closed Sundays. That listing is also about 3 years old, so please check the shopping center website or the restaurant’s Instagram (koreankitchen_cz) before visiting.

The escalators.. aren’t as fast as the ones in the metro. Maybe just a little faster than those in Korea? Anyway, up the escalator..

Walk past McDonald’s and KFC, and it’s right next to them.

At lunchtime.. it’s absolute chaos.. Come before or after mealtimes and you can enjoy a very quiet meal. This is the Prague 7 district, where people living nearby have relatively high incomes, so quite a few eat Korean food even though it costs more than Czech food.

It used to be.. tucked away in a corner and hard to find.. Now you can eat in an open space with natural light, which seems like a huge improvement. Somehow.. it feels like it’s up there with KFC and McDonald’s now?

This gives you an idea of the food prices. Inflation in Czechia has been so high.. elsewhere, this much would only get you.. goulash or rice noodles and a glass of water. To me.. the prices here seem fairly low.

I’d brought my laptop.. so I think I waited about 30 minutes while working.
I know the owner.. and wasn’t particularly hungry.. so I’d asked them to get through all the other orders and make mine when they had a quiet moment.

This was the first time I’d seen cold udon here. The owner said they were deciding whether to make it seasonal or keep it on the menu year-round. Apparently, Czech customers really didn’t like it. I absolutely loved it, though.

Karaage served as a side 😀
Maybe it helps that they fry so much chicken here.. I really enjoyed it.

There was even broth ice, so you can tell how cold the soup was. I happily sucked on that too..

There was shrimp in it too. Czechia is landlocked, by the way.. so shrimp is very expensive.

And finally, the udon noodles 😀
Maybe because they were cold, the noodles were really chewy, and I loved the texture. The broth was on the tangy side.. enough to bring back the appetite the heat had taken away. It had been a while since I’d had a proper noodle dish, so this was an enjoyable meal.

The broth was tasty too.. but I couldn’t finish it all..
Anyway, I enjoyed the meal.
